One boys (Neighborhood Academy) and one girls, although I don't know which one yet. Have to put my thinking cap on a little more.

I read your article on the crowds at the Pete, I am beginning to come around on the idea of hosting the WPIAL Championships at RMU after watching them host the quarterfinals of the Horizon League. The arena was loud and hopping. It would look great even if you have to turn some people at the gate away.

I agree Robert Morris would be great for Robert Morris. When they had Butler-USC games there in 2020, place was rockin'. But have to remember, it holds only 4,000. That's not big enough to maybe handle the crowd for Friday night or Saturday night WPIAL finals. Recently, there have been maybe 6,000 or so at those games. People will be turned away and that's not good.

Can you explain Philly Catholic league? Is it a section in a District? West Catholic had a sub 500 record, but made it into boys AAA playoffs and taking on SA for the title.

It's a league with teams in different classifications that compete against each other. They break out teams for state playoffs, based on classifications of teams. But they compete for one Catholic League title.

What do you know about Perkioman Valley Girls Basketball ? How does USC match up against them ?
Mike White
11:47
I think that Perkiomen Valley team gets double fuel "perks" at Giant Eagle. Wooo hooooo. I'll be here all week. Tip your waitresses. Try the veal. ... Seriously, I do know they have only three losses and easily won a few PIAA games. They are the three-time champion from District 1 (suburban Philly), so they must be pretty darn good. I think USC will have hands full. Perkiomen has a 6-3 center in Quinn Boettinger who is supposed to be good.

Any updates on Bell Vernon or KO coaching hire.  Seems like KO is taking awhile, hopefully there was interest in the job.  Seems to be less and less coaches every year.  Everyone is looking for assistants.

Sorry, I got nothing.

fab 5 of all time 2+ sport athletes in WPIAL history. Would be a cool article

Would have to spend some time thinking. Terrelle Pryor (Jeannette) and Tommy Clements (Canevin) come to mind right away, even though Canevin played in Catholic League when he was there. You know Clements' two college choices were: point guard for Dean Smith at North Carolina - or QB for Ara Parseghian at Notre Dame. That says enough right there.

I know Williamsport HS has "Millionaires" as their mascot, are Sewickley Academy the "Billionaires"?

Oh, you're killin' me, Smalls.

Well, I think that's it for this week. I'll be in Hershey this weekend for state championships - myself, Mr. Beazley (he needs a nickname) and Horse Marzik. Follow our reporting and on social media so you can learn all of the Catholic-private-charter schools winners. ... Wait. I think I hear some leftover roasted chicken thighs calling my name for lunch. ... We'll talk again next Tuesday at 11. Everyone, be good.
