I want to thank you for the chats...Honestly, they are ''must-read" for me and I look forward to them...Not sure what that says about me...
Mike White

It says you are a highly intelligent person. Ha ha.

The gateway qb, birch, had so much hype as a freshman.  Where is his recruiting headed now?  Is he still a high d1 kid?  Is Pitt interested?
Mike White
11:53
I think he has one FBS offer - from Oregon. He's a nice high school QB. I'm not here to cut down a high school kid. But I don't know if he's and FBS QB. He got that offer from Oregon when he was a freshman. I think that had something to do with Joe Moorhead (Pittsburgh guy) being at Oregon. Others didn't follow. Honestly, I don't think that Oregon offer was a good thing for him as a freshman. It really put undue pressure and undue expectations on him.

Who you got in the 5A football finals (final four) this year? Who decided to have the smallest classifications/smallest schools/smallest communities at the biggest venue and then complain about attendance at The Ac?
Mike White
11:54
5A again is the best class, top to bottom, at least as far as depth of quality teams. Lot of parity. I don't have a real favorite yet.

PCC might look good but that St Joes team is loaded and almost beat IMG. Good luck beating the hawks.
Mike White
11:56
Yes, St. Joe's is loaded. What else is new? And may I say that the team in Wexford is pretty darn good, too. Remember, North Allegheny beat Central for the WPIAL title last year and NA has many starters back. In my mind, they might be right with Central.

Wow that’s kind of messed up putting a kid and mothers situation on his going to prep school out there in the public like that
Mike White
11:59
Many people know the situation. Others scratch their heads and ask about the situation. And Royce's mom had some things to say on Twitter. So I thought maybe I'd shed some light on reasons he left.

Hello Mike, what are your thoughts on Shaler?  I just can't figure out how they can always be so mediocre in football.....
Mike White
12:00
Shaler is a sleeper team in 5A. Watch for them. They started well last year, then faded down the stretch. Lot of kids back from that team.

Thanks for the info on prep school hoops and players leaving. Does this only happen in hoops, or doe sit happen in football, baseball, etc?
Mike White
12:01
Much, much more in hoops.
12:03
There aren't many "football schools" around like basketball. And here's the thing. You see very few of these "basketball schools" in girls high school basketball. So, how is it that the women's game in college and pro is getting better when almost all of the girls go to just regular high schools? Why don't they need to go to these "basketball schools" to get better competition?

With 3 of Imani Christians 5 starters in basketball leaving the program after one year, do you think that the PIAA may realize that most of these transfers are actually athletically motivated and look to take a stronger stance against them?
Mike White
12:03
But as has been discussed many times. WPIAL needs evidence. And it's hard to get that evidence in many cases.

LOVE the candor in discussing prep schools.  Agree with all your points...Most kids if they did it over would stay at their HS with their pals!  Good rant!

Royce Parham would've been all-time leading scorer in North Hills history, would've had a legacy probably as one of the top 12 scorers all-time in WPIAL history, could've easily won a WPIAL title this year, maybe made a state playoff run, probably made the North Hills Hall of Fame and I bet would've had his number retired at North Hills someday. But to get all of those things, you have to graduate from North Hills. None of that will happen now. But I wish him all the luck in the world at Western Reserve. Great kid.

Not much coverage of that CV win over Austintown Fitch last week. Not that many times does a WPIAL power go across the border to defeat an OHIO Power, especially on their homefield. CV is in rebuilding mode this year, AT Fitch was supposed to be loaded with a PItt recruit on the team. What are your thoughts on that game?
Mike White
12:07
CV made a big comeback. Yes, CV lost a lot. But Mark Lyons has a "program." When you have that, there aren't rebuilding years.
12:09
Oh well, that's about it for now. Good first week of the chat. Sorry I didn't get to all of the questions. Remember, next Tuesday at 11 a.m. Everyone, be good.
