Man, that's a tough one to do right off the top of my head. I'd have to think about it more. Quarterback I'd take tie between Tyler Palko and Phil Jurkovec, just as high school QBs. Rushel Shell definitely one running back. Maybe Eugene Jarvis the other. Can I move Steve Breaston to receiver? I'd have to think more about the others.

just when you think fox chapel is gaining momentum in football they get destroyed by a very bad NH team.  What is wrong with that program?
Mike White
11:30
A pretty bad program, that's what is wrong.
Fear the Horse
11:31
Chartiers Valley is in first place. Are they good enough to win the conference ?
Mike White
11:31
Can they win the conference? Yes, they have a chance. But I'll still take Thomas Jefferson.

At a girls fall league game over the weekend two coaches had to be separated and the game was paused.  Can coaches or players be suspended or disciplined for behavior in out of season events?  I know if you are kicked out of a game there is a mandatory suspension in the following game or two.
Mike White
11:32
WPIAL or PIAA doesn't get involved at what happens in these leagues out of season. But there is a chance the school might not be happy about it. Not surprised that two coaches had to be separated at a fall league game. Heck, you might even see that at an in season game.
Tradition
11:33
The horse running out for aliquippa before every home game is a really neat tradition. Are there any other neat traditions in the wpial that compare?
Mike White
11:33
Nothing compared to that one.

How does a player who didn't start for his high school basketball team end up on an sec roster?  I'm not trying to hate I am just trying to connect the dots.  Is there a relationship with the coach there?
Mike White
11:34
Have no idea who you're talking about. There are walk-ons who make big-time rosters. Not that unusual.

With the gateway boys basketball job open is that considered to be a job that attracts a lot of coaches?  Any names being rumored to be a candidate?
Mike White
11:35
I don't know of any names. I know that there is possibility that assistant Vern Benson might get it. Former Pitt player Kirk Bruce has been helping past few years, too. Vern might get it. I'm not sure. Kirk would maybe help. Kirk a first-class guy.
You can look it up
11:38
Every school is different, even different than their neighbors. Some have mitigating circumstances that people outside the district do not understand when it comes to high school programs. Instead, outsiders say "get better." Baldwin-Whitehall SD has a significant population of students for whom English might be a second language. They might not embrace American football or even high school athletics. It's not a true 5A school. The Census data is out there if anyone cares to look it up.

Teams that struggle for years ... it's hard to find what the answer is. If it was that easy, many teams would do it. A coach can make a difference, but you better have some players also. Sorry, I don't buy the reason for football problems is ESL kids. How is Baldwin at least competitive in other sports, then?
Highlight show
11:40
More and more on social media im seeing highlight tapes of players in fall hoops leagues. I get that’s the world we live in now, but gotta think that’s a little ridiculous, no?
Mike White
11:41
Yep, highlights from everything. The highlights of kids "in the lab" are my favorites. That's just beautiful. "In the lab!!!!" Dang, that means you're a player.

Brinkley needs to channel his inner Mack Leftwich this week for NA to have a shot.  What do you think?
Mike White
11:42
Central by at least a couple TDs. They have too much.
Big Dog
11:42
I saw the quip highlight of the game winning td.  The lights go out right after a score but what happens if they drop the lights and the play comes back bc of a flag?  It seems like that should be a delay of game if that happens.
Mike White
11:42
Ahhhh, the lights come back on in a few seconds. C'mon. It's a think at places now.
Health
11:43
USC sustained a couple of key injuries last week. Do you know the status of those players ?
Mike White
11:43
I do not.

11:43
Golf championships are going on now.  Where would you finish if you competed against these kids?
Mike White
11:44
I wouldn't qualify for the championships, let's just say that. I might have a chance -- just a chance -- at getting the target score to get out of sections. But I should get to play from the senior tees. Ha ha.

Any update on the Shady Side forfeit?
Mike White
11:44
Nope. No chance that game will be made up. No way Shady Side wants to do that.

I just saw Montour play a fall bball game.  They have some new transfers.  Are they eligible for the season?  Apparently two of the transfers are living together and from the looks of it they are not related.
Mike White
11:50
Well I did a story on the 7-foot kid Loic Kalau who just showed up at Montour in the spring. I do not know if WPIAL has ruled on him yet. He supposedly was going to live with the same family that took in Ama Sow. I'm not sure who he is definitley living with. But I do know someone helped get him to Montour. I know coaches around the WPIAL are real interested to see what the WPIAL rules on this. They think it's a joke. Kid from Allderdice also transferred to Montour. Not sure if WPIAL ruled on him yet, either.

Are any of the sewickley players making an impact on the moon football team?  I was interested to learn that they had a co-op.  I'm sure that will help the sewickley recruiting.
Mike White
11:50
Honestly, I'm not sure.

Thoughts on AAU teams holding tryouts this time of year?  Other states have restrictions on when AAU teams can have practices and tryouts.  Should PA?
Mike White
11:50
AAU does whatever it wants. It's a totally different world.

Brinkly threw a handful of nice deep balls in the first half against Norwin.  NA receivers couldn't get separation,  Their big break came late in the first half when #11 made  a savvy push off to get separation just before the ball landed in his hands in the end zone.  It's not a typical big dominant line at NA.  I do like the rb Rohan.    It will be interesting to see how Brinkley develops.  He's tall with a strong arm and seems quite athletic, but that hasn't translated into him being a significant running threat  yet.    He needs that Mack Leftwich poise.   NA has a good track record of developing qbs, so we will see, He will need to have the game of his life Friday for NA to win.                                     Has Central settled in on Roman Thompson at rb?   Seemed to be a significant difference when he touches the ball, but I haven't seen CC for a few weeks.
Mike White
11:55
Let's not compare Brinkley to Mack Leftwich. Leftwich was really good and played at Division I level. Brinkley still developing. Better than lst year. But North Allegheny will need more than a big performance from Brinkley to win. They'll need a big performance from everyone. As for Thomspon, he has carried the ball 38 times in the past four games. It seems he and Jayden Alexander are sharing the carries. But Thompson is now the team's leading rusher with a little more than 400 yards and averaging 10 yards a carry. I think he's their best runner -- and also leading tackler on defense.

Not sure you saw the video of the kid that ran over the offensive lineman who body slammed his opponent while he was on the ground and broke two of his vertebrae. Should charges be filed or is it "just part of the game" ?
Mike White
11:55
Didn't see it. Was it a WPIAL game?

Does the Post-Gazette have NIL deals with certain teams, coaches, players?  You always seem to favor certain teams, and have a problem with others.
Mike White
11:58
Yes, we do. And with the new House settlement, we now share Post-Gazette revenue with some players and teams. We're giving six figures to the players we like the most, and one or two seven million. Montour coach Lou Cerro is one of the seven-figure coaches for us. Hey, it's the way of the world now with the Post-Gazette and WPIAL. Do you have a problem with it?

Hey Mike...Did you ever get the Pagley's recipe for their sauce? I know how much you like it. Also; thank you for all the great coverage.
