Ahhh, I don't think so because I've just used it to check standings about five times during this chat.

Something interesting your comment about PCC passing game made me think about. Now at least 3 of the top 4 6A schools run the spread offense. PCC, SV, NA. Who would have every thought that would happen in Western PA. And it seems like a big reason - the coaches P-R fired - Jochem, Leymeier, Sasson - now at rivals schools.

Spread offense is everywhere. It's not just 6A. Small schools, medium schools, everyone running it. I'll tell you one that is winning with old-fashioned style, though, is Moon. Yeah they throw 15 times a game. But with really good offensive line and a bull in backfield, they use two tights sometimes and just run. Old school. I like it. And they mix in just enough pass plays to keep defenses honest.

Moon has benefitted from a very soft schedule. I just don’t see them competing with gateway penn trafford pine Richland or peters twp. Your thoughts?
Mike White
11:51
You're wrong. I'm not saying they are lock to win Class 5A. But they pretty much handled Seneca Valley, a good 6A team and then beat a decent North Hills team. Moon plays South Fayette and Peters the next two weeks. We'll know more then.

How 'bout them Talbots!
Mike White
11:52
Woooo hoooo!!!!! Undefeated. It's Jacque's world at Hampton and everyone should be glad to be in it.

Mike, getting back to your comment on PCC, I don't think Dan Marino passed 13 times in a quarter! Do you think it will continue like this for PCC, or will it be back to the ground assault at some point?
Mike White
11:53
I think it will continue. But last week, after they got decent lead, they kept it on the ground more. Might be a case of what defense is giving them.
Hoops
11:53
Mike, any talk about the WPIAl going with an open tournament for hoops this year?  Seemed to be pretty successful last year and with issues still surfacing, might be smart to run it back... What say you?
Mike White
11:54
Nope. No more open tournament. Playoff format is on WPIAL web site. Back to old way.

Speaking of moving to 5A, with enrollment numbers due to the PIAA on Oct 1st, have you heard of any big changes on the horizon, schools bumping up or schools coming down? Aliquippa was the big one before with the quality points, not sure if TJ is in that boat also, SF finding a way to move back down?
Mike White
11:57
Lil' Prexie. We can ask every school for enrollment figures, but you can't predict any of it because we don't have enrollment figures for entire state. And PIAA bases classifications on enrollment figures for all schools in the state. They make their cutoffs based on percentage of schools. So even if we had all enrollment figures, it would be impossible to know classes of WPIAL schools without PIAA releasing cutoff enrollment figures for classes. It would all be conjecture. Sorry.

Central Valley’s #1 in the state/WPIAL and is running over teams, they have the WPIAL leading rusher in Landon Alexander. Why isn’t Landon getting more love from recruiters?
Mike White
11:58
I've written about this. Coach Mark Lyons has talked about it. I don't know if he's a Power 5 back, but I think he's at least an FCS back and maybe could be worth an offer from a MAC school. But know this: Colleges couldn't care less about how many yards you run for. Unfortunately, more and more seem to be more enamored how kids look at camps and combines and how they play in shorts and no pads in the summer.

Did the guy that used to coach Allderdice, Valinsky, retire?
Mike White
11:59
Yes, he stepped down at Norwin's coach. And most likely is retired.

Couple of the biggest surprises (good or bad) in the WPIAL thru the halfway point?
Mike White
11:59
Kiski Area, Laurel, Laurel Highlands. All undefeated.

The games I have been to have been well attended this fall. Do you think a year away has more people showing up to games on Friday nights?
Mike White
12:00
Well Beaver County Bill, you're the Bill of rights on this subject. I think the year away has helped attendance, both with adults and students. But I usually go to the biggest games, which usually have big crowds anyway.

It seems like many beaver county teams are struggling this year. Quip and Cv are the outliers. What gives??
Mike White
12:02
Well, Rochester is 3-1, West Beaver 4-1, Beaver 3-1, Cornell 3-1, South Side 3-2 ... I don't think that's struggling. Sure, some are struggling, but there are always a few in Beaver County that struggle. That's not new.
12:04
And that's the final buzzer. Chat is over. And hey, regardless of any comments, I enjoy doing this every week with you. Hope it's informative and I like having some fun with it. Y'all, be good.
