Heck yeah. Why not? People like them. They add to the menu. Better than a hot dog or hamburger or processed pepperoni roll. Plus, they turn out to be nice fundraiser for booster clubs. JUST KEEP THE DANG PICKLESS OFF THE SANDWICHES!!!!

You mean Boyd of McKeesport? He was back last week. Ran for more than 100 yards. I had one very prominent WPIAL coach tell me this week that Boyd is best player in WPIAL.

Lord, I hope they're not a threat. Might have to call authorities if they are. I think Burgettstown is pretty good and will be in playoffs. But I wouldn't put them right now in top 2 or 3 in Class 1A.

Aliquippa has to be No. 1 going into season. Might get a slow start because of football. But they started three sophomores on team that went to state finals. Bishop Canevin will still be good, even though a few top players graduated and two transferred - Amari Evans to Our Savior Lutheran in New York and R.J. Sledge to Imani.

North Hills graduated 4 starters from last year, is Royce Parham going to be a one man band now or are there still some other talented kids there who will step into the lineup this year?

Yep, four standout starters graduated. Royce's game has gotten better but it remains to be seen how others develop. Just because of Royce, they have to be in top 5 in Class 5A going into season, I would imagine.

mike who are some of the most under the radar football teams this season.  Teams who are having good years that might be dangerous come playoff time that are currently not ranked or talked about much.

Well, Penn-Trafford is no longer ranked in 5A. I think they are still good enough to challenge for a title. Hempfield is ranked No. 5 in Class 5A. They got clobbered by Gateway, but I still think they're pretty decent. Even though Clairton is out of Class 1A rankings, don't overlook them come playoff time. Maybe Burrell and Neshannock also.

I would have to disagree with you on the Boyd comment! Hes a good player on a solid team. Gallagher is the best athlete in the wpial. The things that he continues to do with far less talent is mind blowing!! Will go down as one of the best dual sport kids ever in wpial!!!

I didn't say I said it. I said a prominent coach said it. But think of what you said. Gallagher is best "athlete." Does that make him the best player? I think you have to wait and see how year plays out. Rodney is definitely up there, but what Boyd has done is pretty impressive.

Hi Mike, can we have a preview of your top Top 5 single A boys teams? I know about Imani and Union, but anyone else? Monessen moving down into a Section where they are clearly the best team should help add to their already packed trophy case!

No question Imani is No. 1. They might have been No. 1 already and the addition of a few transfers makes them stronger, if those transfers are eligible. Even without them, they will probably be No. 1. I'm saying Union No. 2. Five starters back from last year's WPIAL finalist. Carlynton was good in 2A last year and moves down. Monessen won 19 games and moves down. Then there is Aquinas, with the "gini" Vinnie Cugini. But do they have anything else? Rochester could be a team to watch.
