Most certainly. Probably will be announced next week. School will be called Monelltonrox. Supposedly, Dick Butkus is going to be the football coach, Phil Jackson the basketball coach and Dick Groat the baseball coach. At least that's the rumor. I'd take it to the bank.

May have gone unnoticed since it’s 1A but maybe biggest surprise result to me so far this year was Union shutting out Rochester. What the heck?

I tend to agree with you. Union's not bad, but didn't expect that.

Forgot to add another surprise to me so far, McGuffey. Thought they were supposed to be much better this year.

McGuffey not bad and they were pretty good the past few years. I think maybe Ed Dalton thought they would be better, too. I haven't seen them play, so I don't know what, if any, problems there are. But hey, they are only 3-3 and 2-0 in conference.

I know you talked about 6A football being so down. What do you think the contributing factors cause big schools like Baldwin, Norwin, Hempfield to be down every year. Barely beating or losing to not so good 5A schools. People say kids but they touch districts that touch powerful 5A schools. Hempfield - Norwin touch PT -Gateway- Mckeesport  Baldwin next to all kind of powers. Norwin may have had their worse loss in school history to Baldwin last week and Hempfield may do the same.

Well guest, no one has been able to answer that question. I certainly can't. 6A is going to be the same every year probably now. NA, Central, Seneca and Lebo. Someone every once in a while sneaks in top 4. I don't know what the answer is to help some of those schools. I will say this. For whatever reason, most times those bottom schools just don't have the talent of others.

I really don't know. Last picture I saw of him on sidelines was 2019 and he had almost yellow pants, yellow long sleeve shirt and black vest on.

That's another hard question. I think it makes you realize what a job George Novak did there all those years. I will tell you it's not an easy place to coach.

Big factor is coaching.  Look at West Allegheny since Palko left.  Look at Mt. Lebanon since Palko arrived.  Don't downplay coaching.

I didn't downplay coaching. Coaching has more of an impact on high school sports than any level. But I don't think you can say it's all coaching when some teams can't beat the strong teams year after year. Bob Palko is the exception rather than the norm. Guys like him don't grow on trees.

Probably a little of both. I think they thought they were going to be pretty good this year. They were 5-3 this year. Plus, that conference is down this year. Plum and Mars were the top two teams in that conference last year and were 8-1 and 6-2. This year, they are 2-4 and 0-6. Enough said. But give Hampton credit, too. They have been impressive.

Well there are 6 teams in the conference and four go. Next few weeks will tell a lot. They're not out of it.

Especially in the larger classes why does it seem schools outside of Allegheny county don’t have much success winning WPIAL titles in football? Is it coaching?

Well Beaver County has had some success, wouldn't you say? And since there are many more schools in Allegheny County, they are obviously going to have more titles. But you're right, some real tomato cans in some counties. But Allegheny County has some tomato cans, too.
