I don't agree with all of your statement. There are schools, like Hempfield, that have good numbers maybe at junior high. But for whatever reason, that doesn't translate to success in high school.

Do you think good coaching or good talent is more important at the HS level ? I've seen good or great coaches take teams with marginal talent far and conversely seen teams with good talent flop. Which is it ?

Without a doubt it's talent. Ask any coach. Yes, coaches are so important in high school. But I know many guys who are pretty darn good coaches, but can only go so far because they just don't have players.

other than Pillar getting press this week for 56 carriers, seems like RB like him, Whipple and Dupill don't get much press.
Mike White

I don't know. Whipple got some hype for gaining 300 yards. You gain yards, score touchdowns, you get hype. It's pretty simple.

Pillar played and amazing game, but similar to pitch count rules in baseball, WPIAL needs to consider a rule for # of carries.  Your example of lineman hitting every play isn't a very good one.  They don't typically have 5 steps or more behind them when contact is made.  Big difference!

Get out of here. A "carry count." That's absurd.

When I first read Unnecessary’s post on 56 Carrie’s my first thought was about the same as yours but on 2nd thought the more they learn about dangers of head trauma the more it becomes a matter to at least discuss and not dismiss outright.  (maybe not at varsity HS level but levels lower.)
Especially when you consider in baseball they limit pitches by the pitchers at different levels. so not like it’s a crazy idea to put limits on certain actions in sports.
Ok to protect young arms and not young brains?

OK, let's limit the number of shots you take in basketball. Might hurt your shoulder. Let's limit the times you box out in basketball. Might get hurt. Let's limit the shots on goal you can take in soccer. Might hurt your leg. Let's limit the number of shots you can take on a goalie in hockey. He might get hurt by one. Can we please stop this?

Pine Richland beating anyone - even a loaded PCC team - is a distinct possibility every week, every year. But Trinity over TJ? In football? That has to be considered one of the biggest regular season upsets in the last 20 yrs.

I think I might agree.

These people crying about the Pillar kid are ridiculous. He signed up for this. If his parents are ok with it what business is it some random troll. It's football not backgammon. Stop being a candy a**

You said it, not me.

I can think of multiple players that play EVERY down of EVERY football game. That is closer to abuse than a kid running it 50+ times that may not have much of a rule defensively.

No questions from Johnny Lee this week, must be busy or something.

Isn't tonight wing night or burger night at Coach's? He's busy. Or he has basketball practice at KO.

Well, that's it. Some good, lively discussions today. And of course some absurd points. That's OK. I'm used to it. I love it actually. See you next Tuesday at 11.
