You are right that naturally any really successful coach number 1 has to have a talented roster. But watching Bob Palko interviews, the guy has a personality that I can easily see kids gravitating to, being more motivated and committed as a result. With guys like him, a Matt Humbert, who take programs to higher levels, besides having good players, do they just have that “it” factor that separates them from other coaches who know their X and Os?

You are definitely right. I don't know definition of "it" but Palko certainly has "it." And I don't think he ever really wanted to leave West Allegheny. But some people ... if you know what I mean.

It's still hard for me to fathom how the powers that be do not see the problem in the transfers/recruiting at the high school level. Change will never come. The scenario laid out with the Tshiebwe kid is EXACTLY the sort of thing that gets people upset. You have covered it over and over Mike. Just can't believe we can't find a solution.

On this chat and emails, people ask why don't I write about the transfers? How many times do you want us to do the story. Lay it all out. Explain the rules. Tell about the people complaining. Geez. It's not going to play.

When a game gets postponed the way that cc and ml game did, and needs to be finished the following day, are the same refs required to finish the game that started it?

Not totally sure of that. I would think, though, that same crew would come back. Would doubt there would be new crew. Maybe a guy or two.

I saw moon play and they are fun and impressive, but I think you got a watch out for Pine Richland. I think they could win the championship and then would it not be interesting to see what the new school board does!!

No doubt Pine could win it. Wouldn't be a surprise. No way they are close to as good as last year. But thing is 5A isn't close to being as good as last year. In a few weeks, things could get really interesting at Pine-Richland with school board elections. Two new ones are pretty much in. If two others win, look out. They would only have to flip one to say, "we're opening the job." Stay tuned.

Mike, closeness only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.  A close loss to Penn Hills this Friday doesn't count in the standings. Looks like another 5-5 season for North Hills, or maybe a little better due to the forfeit win. Do you see anything different?
