Sorry but I have not been told of any definite plans concerning championship games.

I don't think you are correct about McCort. I think it has been awhile since they've been good.  #2 in the country in Wrestling, tho.  I said hey to Kenny and he just whinnied. So rude.   I wish he'd ride back out on the horse he rode in on.
Mike White
11:39
You're right. I was thinking Guilfoyle.
Lebo
11:39
So basically if we lose on Friday we're finished ? CM isn't beating CC
Mike White
11:39
Yep.

What do you think of Kiski i think they looked good against Plum and should have a Good Game against Woodland Hills on Friday Go KISKI do they have a chance at the playoffs
Mike White
11:41
Kiski Area has very good shot at playoffs. Only way Kiski doesn't finish third is if it loses to Woodland Hills, and Armstrong also loses to Franklin Regional. If it ends up a three-way tie with Kiski, Gateway and Franklin Regional, Kiski Area gets third because Kiski can't be caught in Gardner Points.

Of all the WPIAL kids that decommitted from Penn State do you know if any of them may strongly consider Pitt now?
Mike White
11:45
Not really sure. Looks like Kemon Spell likes Notre Dame a great deal. Some recruiting site predicted he will go there. Matt Sieg visited Indiana last weekend. Apparently going to go to Pitt and Notre Dame also. Not sure about Imani kids.
Pine richland
11:46
why is pine richalbd getting all these transfers. its not fair
Mike White
11:46
They're not alone.
pz
11:46
Can SF still get in playoffs if they lose to Moon? Would an at large bid be affected by the health of their QB?
Mike White
11:46
Yes, they can still get in with a wild card spot. Health of QB Welhorsky should be considered, though. I don't know his status.
pine
11:46
Better team- 2020 Pine richland or 2025 pine Richland?
Mike White
11:47
Remains to be seen. Gotta win a state title.

I thought Terry Totten was a very good coach and underrated by many.  I did get a little frustrated with this ground and pound sometimes, but it was effective.  I feel like he's been vindicated since he left. The program is in good hands since he left, but I don't think it has "improved"...just different.  The offense is more wide open, but despite 4 power 4 OL recruits, the running game is worse.   The defense isn't as good either.  There is more than one way to skin a cat. I wish CC could have their passing game they have post Totten with the running game and defense of Totten. What do you think?
Mike White
11:48
Passing now with running of old -- that would be something. I loved Terry. Yinzer through and through. And had some great teams. Yes, offense is different now. Definitely more open. But that doesn't mean Terry's way wasn't good and doesn't mean Ryan Lehmeier's way isn't good.

I know we talk a lot about the big names in the WPIAL but who is a kid that has flown under the radar that you have been impressed with this year?
Mike White
11:49
Ryan Messina of EF, Jonah Williamson of Trinity, Luca Neal of Avonworth.
Mr Ed
11:49
Has Mrs White gotten used to you being at home on some Friday nights now? Probably cramping her style.
Mike White
11:50
Ha ha. Yep. I actually am able to see more games now on TV and live streaming than ever before when I was at a game every Friday. I love it. And she has her own routines anyway. And even watches a game with me sometimes. She's the best.

We play the public Trinity this week 10 starters are transfers
Mike White
11:51
Wait, who is the "public Trinity."
Rob

Do you think Woody High gets the 2 or 3 seed and has a chance to get by Peters with a privilege of getting pounded by Should-Be-In-6A Pine Richland at Acrisure?
Mike White
11:51
I still think Peters gets No. 2 and Woody No. 3.

The logic behind North Allegheny dropping a spot in the 6A rankings is flawed. The loss came in a non-conference matchup against a 5A team — not a 6A opponent — so it shouldn’t heavily impact rankings within the classification. NA has defeated every 6A team except Central Catholic. Meanwhile, Pine-Richland (8-1) lost to Central earlier in the season, yet remained steady in the rankings even while Peters Township was still undefeated. That’s an inconsistent and biased standard. Calling NA’s Norwin win a ‘barely’ victory is subjective — a win is a win, regardless of margin. Rankings should reflect performance within classification and head-to-head results, not selective narratives.
Mike White
11:52
Totally agree with you. But that wasn't my decision. NA should be No. 2.
CoachMax
11:52
1A debate: who you got as #1 seed?  With similar teams as last year I gotta go w defending champs Fort Cherry.  Top dawg until they’re beat (won’t be this year by a WPIAL team in my opinion…)
Mike White
11:54
It shouldn't go by what happened last year. I hate that logic. I really think it's a tossup. I'd probably go with Clairton. Not because of their high-scoring offense, but what they've done on defense. My question is, what's up with Matt Sieg arm? He has thrown one pass in four games. They don't need him to throw and are they not showing him throwing now, just so opponents can't scout it? Or is his arm really hurt?
Smith
11:54
Did you see how bad N A got beat. Should not be number 2
Mike White
11:58
Well they're going to finish No. 2 in the standings ahead of Norwin and beat Norwin. That puts them No. 2 in my book. And how bout this: Norwin barely beat a 3-6 North Hills team and beat Hempfield by a touchdown. North Allegheny beat Hempfield 56-13.
Rob
11:58
Do you think Woody could get by Peters in the 5A semis if they both make it there?
Mike White
11:59
No, no chance. If that game comes about, Woody should just forfeit, like Shady Side Academy against Clairton. C'mon. Of course, Woody would have a chance. Would be a really good game.
CoachMax
11:59
Besides Imani, who has Clairton really played? They beat up on junk teams.  FC doesn’t have a gauntlet but Bishop, Cornell and monessen all trump Clairton’s toughest competition which is why I give FC nod for #1 seed.
Mike White
12:01
I don't disagree. I wouldn't have a problem with Fort Cherry being No. 1 seed. Honestly, it wouldn't bother me either way. And does it matter that much? Because I think both No. 1 and 2 seeds would get similar teams in the semifinals.
5A
12:01
Do you think schools have ever lied about enrollment numbers to stay in lower classification to have success knowing they would not beat Central even with many recruits?
Mike White
12:02
Ohhhhhhh. That would be pretty bad. I think schools have to file enrollment numbers with the state before they ever do with PIAA. But has it ever happened? Probably.
12:05
Well, that's it for today. Don't forget. WPIAL playoff pairings and seedings come out Saturday afternoon. Thank God they don't wait until Monday nights any more. We'll have stories and matchups on Post-Gazette web site Saturday. Fun time of year. Everyone, be good. ... Soup's on.
