Hey Mike, what two schools in the wpial would bring the biggest crowds to Heinz? If all things were equal and each team had a shot to get to Heinz, what game would have the best atmosphere?

Teams that usually bring the best crowds to Heinz are the ones that aren't there very often. Like if Moon would make it, or a Penn-Trafford or someone like that. But that Class 1A and 2A doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 26. Geez. Judging by past crowds at Class 1A games at Heinz, WPIAL should be jumping for joy if they have 2,500 for that doubleheader.

When does John Ruane get the recognition he deserves?  Just seems like you never put him in the conversation of greats. Will it take a championship?  His teams are a steady boat of consistency.  Is this the year of the Warriors in 5A?

To be frank, Frank, I think you are frankly way off base. I have done stories on John Ruane, mentioned him even on these chats and said he is one of the most underrated coaches in WPIAL. And one of the best. He's done a marvelous job with that program. Good every year. I am a big backer of John Ruane. Honestly, I think he would go up in everyone's eyes if he won a WPIAL. Not having a WPIAL title doesn't mean he's not one of the top coaches, though. Maybe this is the year.

What's the real reason the AD at USC quit ? Did he realize what kind of mess he's created with the programs there and his poor coaching hires and decided to bail on it ?

I have no idea why Kevin Deitrick left. And honestly, I have no idea any coaches he hired. I guess he was there for Mike Junko hiring. I think Junko has been very good. If you know so much and want to be so critical, why don't you fill us in on his "poor coaching hires."

Another tough one. Seneca QB Graham Hancox has missed last two games. I don't know his status. I think I'll pick NA. This is not one of Art Walker's best teams, but still don't overlook them.

Beaver is a team that has turned some heads. They are playing some pretty physical football right now on both sides of the ball. How far do you think they will go?

Yes, Beaver is 6-2 and should finish in second place in conference behind Aliquippa. Certainly not an offensive juggernaut, but defense appears to be good. Really nice job by first-year coach Cort Rowse. But 4A has Belle Vernon, McKeesport, Aliquippa, TJ and Hampton. Beaver will have to upset someone just to get to semifinals.

Yes, Tim Kiely, Central Catholic grad who is director of Inside the NBA, has Ernie, Shaq and Charles under contract to take over for me if I'm ever sick or can't make it. And if they can't do it, Ralph Blundo is next in line.

Ahhhh, I go back and forth on it. It's been this way for a long time. Bad teams making playoffs. It used to bother me, but not as much any more. Really, who is it hurting?There will be some .500 teams probably not making it. And they like to have four rounds of playoffs. So it's something we just have to live with.
