Do you think BB Xmas tournaments this season will be a casualty of COVID? Wondering if bringing 4 schools together and even more for a few tournaments might be deemed too risky.

Good question. I know there is a lot of talk about it. PIAA sports medicine committee met yesterday, I believe. They were supposed to come up with recommendations for winter sports. PIAA might discuss tomorrow. I agree that tournaments are questionable. But right now, they are on. Hey, there's tipoff tournaments first weekend, too. But a bigger concern with PIAA and WPIAL is these big wrestling tournaments.

Will North Catholic ever compete with Central Catholic again?  Rumor was when they moved to Cranberry they would be on their level in a few years. Basketball is right there but football seems light years away.

C'mon Cranberry U. You can't compare football and basketball. Look at how in basketball a really good team from a smaller classification can sometimes compete with a good team in larger classification. Not the same in football. No way North Catholic can get to Central Catholic level in football. That's not a knock on North Catholic. It's just a numbers and size game.

Mike I have a feeling that Central is gonna get revenge on Lebo and throttle them. I think Lebo is HIGHLY overrated. Thoughts ?

I don't think Mt. Lebanon is "overrated" because I don't think anyone thinks they are great. I don't think anyone in 6A is great. Central most certainly can win. Heck, they were up on Lebo by 17 points at halftime a few weeks ago - and lost. Central has been up and down defensively. Given up a good amount of points to some teams - and not many to others. Which defense will show up this week? I have a feeling it will be a close game.

By the way, someone asked earlier about whether Central running back Eddy Tillman is playing. He's played past two weeks. Had 89 yards on 13 carries last week against Baldwin.

Sorry, I'm not going to name "overrated" teams. This is still high school. We don't need that. Some underrated? Like I said, I still don't know how good Serra is - or even McGuffey? McGuffey is No. 2 seed and they play Serra. I have a feeling Apollo-Ridge is very good - No. 4 in 2A. California in Class 1A intrigues me and they play Shenango. Reis Watkins should be back for Shenango. One of leading rushers in WPIAL. And Upper St. Clair is dangerous, mainly because of Ethan Dahlem. I just don't know about USC defense.

Yes, they can win. Will they? I don't think so. I like Belle Vernon. BV defense is very good. But I think CV is pretty good also. Can't turn ball over like they did against Quip.

Boys - USC in 6A, New Castle and Mars in 5A, Lincoln Park and Quaker Valley in 4A, Beaver Falls maybe 3A and South Allegheny and can't overlook North Catholic, definitely OLSH  in 2A.

Yes turnovers and penalties hurt TJ but Cherpak will fix that. I would not want to play them in the next few weeks.
