How does St. Joe's team compare to the team that PR lost to in 2014?  Anyone comparable to DeAndre Swift?

St. Joe's doesn't have anyone like Swift this year. As good as the 2014 St. Joe's team??? I'd say probably. But so hard to say. We don't see these teams play a game.

No Quips1. The pride of West Mifflin, the man who has been traveling the world the past two years, the veteran Brad Everett will be there. I will be at our Game of the Week - Upper St. Clair at West Allegheny. In an antiquated press box that is too small for a program like West Allegheny. Not to complain, but c'mon West A.!!!!

I find it kind of funny that their is a student section ranking and the kids love it and go all out.  It certainly creates an atmosphere at these games.  Do you have a favorite student section?

Many. Student sections have really stepped up in basketball and football the past 7-8 years, I think. Its great to see. Not everywhere is student spirit up, but a lot of places. They're great, but as I said in a column last week, they need to be monitored. As great as these student sections are nowadays, and I really like them, stupidity sometimes comes out. Not to be critical.

What is with all of the concern over fake birth certs and old freshmen!   Let's talk about actual players and teams, geez!   Do you see Belle Vernon challenging TJ in a couple weeks or do they just roll thru to Heinz at this point?

I'm not totally sure of this, but Imani might already have been accepted before WIlkinsburg folded. And I don't blame the WPIAL. Westinghouse has a place to play - the City League. Imani didn't.

Transfers are a bigger concern than fake birth certs and age.  And the even bigger concern is the catholic schools, with the ability to recruit, playing agains the public schools.  Anyone pay attention to the national rankings?  In the northeast, it's 5 catholic schools, followed by Pine 6th.  Seems a little ridiculous that they don't have their own league!

Honestly, I don't think Shaler dropping to 5A would help anything.  Speaking of irrelevant programs: Northgate rolled into the WPIAL 1A semifinals last year with only one loss, and was whipped by Clairton.  Who is your "dark horse" one or two loss team in 1A that may put up a fight against the big name programs?
