I agree not bad. Not like it was in 50s, 60s, 70s and even some of the 80s, But turned out to be a decent year. No way in world kids need to leave here for prep school if they want to be Division I.  They can make it from here if they do the right things. Carmody, Morton great examples. Others also.

As for Brandon Stone, 6-10 Southmoreland kid who left to go to Christ School in N.C. I'm hearing from pretty good sources that he's not really happy there, for whatever reason.

Agreewith Philbeing better thrower.  A lot of Pryors pass yards were yards after catch bysome superior athletes.  No knock. jUst who they played agaisnt

Some of Phil's were YAC also. Let's be fair about that. But it's that way for lot of QBs. Pryor and LaVar Arrington are the best "players" in my mind since I've been doing this. And if you made me pick one, it would be awfully hard. But I'd go LaVar.

What's the big stage????? Power 5 conferences???? Let me just say T.J. McConnell, DeJuan Blair, D.J. Kennedy, DeAndre Kane, Michael Young, Cameron Johnson, Ryan Luther. The stage they are - or were - on was pretty big.

And then others like Micah Mason. He was one of best shooters in NCAA history if you go by stats. We've had some guys do alright in the past 10 years.

And I'd think HS ball isn't where Carmody got his ND offer.  It's playing in big time tournaments for big time AAU teams.

Yes. But schools come to see these guys play in high school also. Heck, Louisville offered him the day after seeing him in the state championship game as a sophomore. No question AAU is the biggest factor.

I know they are operated by over 30 years... But how would you compare the Maj with Phil?

The Maj. One of my all time favorites. He was the dual-threat beast before there were dual-threats. Maj could wing it and he could run, too, but he didn't run all that much in high school until he got to WVU. Maj is in the college hall of fame for goodness sake. My top four QBs since I've been doing this (post Marino era) are Phil, Pryor, Major and Tyler Palko.

I was a bit surprised that Jurkovic didn't graduate in December to go to ND in January. Seemed a few  big recruits did that last year, thought maybe it was the start of a trend.  Glad to see he plans on playing BB once football all star game is over.

Not surprised at all. He never intended to do that. His school, his buddies, and his family are important to him. You only get one senior year in high school. It's to be cherished. That last semester of senior year is a memorable one. I'm glad he didn't leave early.

Hard to say what Brian Kelly thinks. And their QB is back, right??? It's tough to play right from the start as a true freshman. So much to learn. But talent wise and athletic wise, he's good enough.

I don't. Was tremendous. Had one of the most memorable dunks I saw in a high school game. Only a few people in gym.

Yes he is good. But being good in high school doesn't mean you get big time scholarship offers.
