What are your thoughts on having the PIAA alternate between Philly & Pittsburgh for basketball championships?  I think it would boost attend. significantly! I think it being in Hershey kind of cuts out the casual fan.  What do you think?

I don't know if that would do anything. It used to be many casual fans would go every year to games in Hershey. I don't see that as much any more. If you put the championships in Hershey, what do you think would be the biggest crowd? Considering 5,000 is the biggest for a WPIAL doubleheader, I doubt it would come close to that. No one from Philadelphia will come to Pittsburgh. Heck, no one from Philadelphia comes to Hershey. Philly Catholic and Public League schools have killed basketball attendance. I really question how much Philly schools even care about PIAA championships. Seriously. What is hard to figure, though, is Philadelphia Catholic League and Public League championships seem to draw really well at places like The Palestra, etc. I still think Hershey is an OK place to have them.

Has north catholic lost its integrity.  Letting a coach go that has been at the school for 40 years.  Semi finals 10 out of 11 last years.  Rumor that the new coach was selected months ago.

I don't know about losing integrity but I will say it's a real shame Dave Long had to out this way. As far as new coach being in place, I don't think that's true at all. I know a guy everyone says will get the job, but North officials say the job is wide open. They are taking applications. Dave Long will certainly be missed. I can still hear that whiny voice during games (ha ha), but I know many who wish they could still hear that voice from the sideline next year. Just sad for the guy to go out this way after doing so much for that program and school. But you know what? The Diocese can fix this if they want. Tell him they'll hire him back for another year or so. But what do you think the chances are of that happening? I know a number of North Catholic parents who wish that would happen. What boggles my mind is people who said North's playing style is bad. Really??? I saw them play this year and there is not one player on that team who I would say is very good. That's not a knock on those players.

I know there are great individual teams at each classification, but do you think Alliquippa football would have likely been WPIAL and PIAA champs last two years in 2A?

I don't know about that. Remember, Steel Valley was 2A champs two years ago. That team was OK. Mercy ruled every opponent. So no, I wouldn't say Aliquippa would've definitely won titles in 2A the past two years.

the johnson girl from MArs flew somewhat under the radar for most of the year.  Had an outstanding season and better playoffs.  Plus made one of the best plays in state playoff history.  Hope she gets some consideration for post season honors.

Yes, she was considered.

WWH. Remember, Johnson had a little slow start because she missed some of the season with injury. I wouldn't say she flew under the radar. She got some pub during the year. Going Division I also - to Bucknell.

Hey everyone, that's about it for now. Seems like still plenty to talk about even though basketball has ended. Thanks. Everyone, be good.
