Same with Jeimer Candelario, but that's kind of it. Obviously there'd be interest in C.J. Abrams or Keibert Ruiz but Washington's not going that far

The Blue Jays off season has been all about becoming a more balanced club and supporting their pitching staff with a stronger defensive team.   How does this make sense while leaving Bo at SS?  Meanwhile, they currently have a bunch of decent/good utility players set to battle it out for 2B playing time. When is it time to move Bo off of SS or do you have the faith in him there that the FO seems to? Gaining a SS seems like their easiest path to meaningful improvement at this point.

Jays probably think Bichette's a little better at shortstop than the public metrics suggest. I do think he'd be a better fit at second base in a vacuum but the shortstop market this winter wasn't great unless they were going to sign one of the big four to a massive deal
6:28
Trade possibilities are pretty thin, and signing Elvis Andrus to move one of your franchise players off the position and leave Merrifield, Biggio and Espinal without clear paths to playing time probably doesn't make the team that much better in aggregate

Is Ian Happ a trade while value is high guy, build around guy, or still unknown?
Anthony Franco
6:29
He'd have been a trade at last summer's deadline guy for me, but the Cubs clearly disagree
6:30
I like Happ a lot and don't think it'd be crazy to try to extend him. Keeping him in 2023 and then just letting him walk while only getting the QO compensation (as they did with Contreras) wouldn't make much sense though

What's with the Dodgers targeting Miguel Rojas?
Anthony Franco
6:31
Feels like they don't trust Lux's arm holding up at shortstop all year
6:32
Rojas adds a plus defender and great clubhouse guy to plug in there without costing much. Allows them to keep Lux at second most days and use Taylor as a multi-positional type. Not the most exciting addition in the world but I like it well enough

With Devers get6 a extension.  Next year's FA class is not very strong outside of Ohtani and likely Machado.  Do you think that means we see more on the trade front than normal?
Anthony Franco
6:33
I just think there'll be guys who have great platform years and put themselves on the radar for significant free agent contracts
Most people weren't pegging Brandon Nimmo for $100MM at this time last year, let alone $162MM

Would Dombrowski consider trading Hoskins + Abel for an upgrade anywhere on the roster?
Anthony Franco
6:34
Nah I think they're set. Abel and Painter feel pretty close to untouchable. Thought they might deal Hoskins at the start of the offseason to reallocate some payroll room and maybe address the pitching staff, but they just went back into free agency for that
6:36
Injuries or a setback in Bryce's recovery during the first half maybe changes the calculus on not dealing from the top of the farm system midseason, but I don't see that being on the table right now. There aren't any glaring weaknesses left

Ng hasn’t exactly brought much to the table for the Marlins. Do you believe the FO has a clear direction or that Ng is being stifled by the ownerships unwillingness to spend?
Anthony Franco
6:36
(Marlins)
6:37
Seems like a little bit of both. Spending restrictions aren't doing her any favors, particularly in a division with three great teams at or well past the luxury tax threshold
6:39
Yet they also haven't done much in the past year or two that I've really liked. The Avi García and Jorge Soler deals looked rough from the start, overpayments on players with inconsistent performance thanks to good second halves in 2021 and huge batted ball numbers. Their moves on the trade front last winter didn't work

Do you think the Mariners will get another bat? If so, what are their options?
Anthony Franco
6:41
Feels like Pollock kind of rounds it out. Maybe they sign someone like Brian Anderson to factor into left field and guard against Suarez regression at third base?

Which arbitration eligible player has the most trade value heading into 2023?
Anthony Franco
6:42
Interesting one. Would have to give this more though to feel great about it but I lean towards it just being Juan Soto
6:44
Two years of control vs. one for Ohtani. Daulton Varsho had four years and brought back one of the sport's five best prospects but San Diego could do better than that if they inexplicably tried to trade Soto again

Marlins send Edward Cabrera to Nats for Robert Hassell.....who sasy no?
Anthony Franco
6:46
Setting aside that an intra-divisional top prospect swap probably never gets off the ground, I like the idea here. I'd prefer Hassell but it's really close

Is Cruz worth $1 million?  Is Belt worth $10?
Anthony Franco
6:47
I would've had them both in the $3-5MM range. Belt ahead since he's left-handed, younger and was better to close out 2021 but I don't think there should've been an $8MM gap between them

Jays need a right handed OF, who do you prefer between McCutchen and Grossman?
Anthony Franco

Cutch

Should we just have a 45-man roster at this point? I feel like the Kyle Tyler, Jacob Nottingham, Lewin Diaz, Hoy Park stuff is really an indication that things probably ought to change. Junior Fernandez gets claimed, then DFAd like a day later. This has to be something the Players' Association is talking about, right?
Anthony Franco
6:48
If you go to a 45-man roster, this'll just happen to whoever's the 46th-best player on the roster
6:49
They did implement some small rule changes to keep guys from shuttling around too much -- moving a team to the back of the waiver order if they've already claimed the player once, limits on options in a season -- but I don't know there's any way around this happening. Teams are going to do this with players no matter where you set the cutoff

What the heck do the Red Sox do up the middle?
Anthony Franco
6:50
Probably sign Andrus
Could do that and trade for Michael Taylor to move Hernández to second base
Jurickson Profar
6:51
What kind of contract do I get? Is there any chance a team gets me to take a 1-year deal?
Anthony Franco
6:52
I'd guess he gets two years in the $16MM range (total) with an opt-out after the first season

Which pre-arbitration player will collect the most of the bonus pool ($50 million) money in 2023?
