Anthony Franco
7:33
Hey everyone, hope you're all having a good week
7:34
Going to give the queue another minute and then we'll get rolling
Rodney
7:35
How do you get all the content for your articles?
Anthony Franco
7:35
Usually organically via roster moves/injuries. For times when it's some kind of original post, I'm typically just scrolling through FanGraphs leaderboards until something I find interesting jumps out
Tigers
7:35
Which is the biggest need for the Tigers?
Anthony Franco
7:36
They have a ton of needs on the position player side (catcher, third base if they non-tender Candelario, could upgrade over Schoop at second)
7:37
Also have to backfill the rotation with the uncertainty around Mize and Skubal
Jake
7:37
Diego Cartaya and Jorbit Vivas for Dylan Cease and Joe Kelly. Who hangs up?
Anthony Franco
7:37
White Sox aren't trading Cease
Guards 4 Life
7:37
Thoughts on Will Brennan for the guardians and do you believe he fits well for this squad overall for the future?
Anthony Franco
7:39
Seems like another one of the Cleveland speciality hitters who doesn't have huge raw tools but has such good bat-to-ball skills he can be a decent everyday player anyways
Mart
7:39
Does Steve Adams not do chats anymore?
Anthony Franco
7:40
Steve normally runs his chat on Tuesdays, but he took yesterday to start the prep for our Top 50 free agents list. He still chats basically every Tuesday otherwise
Cubs
7:40
Do you think Suzuki's last month is closer to what he truly is?
Anthony Franco
7:42
Pretty much. I think he's going to be pretty solidly above-average, yeah. He makes contact, hits the ball hard, has a strong awareness of the strike zone. Should be a middle-of-the-order bat for the next few years
Derek Falvey
7:42
Which, if any, of the young arms in my end-of-season rotation figure to be major leaguers out of the gate next year?
Anthony Franco
7:42
(Twins)
7:43
Joe Ryan obviously and I think Bailey Ober will be in the season-opening starting staff along with Mahle, Gray, Maeda and someone they add from outside the org. Could see Josh Winder starting the year in a long relief capacity again
Think Woods Richardson and Louie Varland are back in St. Paul to start, but they'll get chances as injuries inevitably arise again
Doug
7:43
Do you think we see new Angels and Nationals owners before the offseason is over? Over as in, all meaningful free agents signed
Anthony Franco
7:44
I think the Nationals will, lean towards no on the Angels
ecowheelie
7:44
Hey! Madrigal, Rassmusen, Larnach, Kwan, Rutschman ... was that a great CWS team or what?
Anthony Franco
7:45
I've only followed college baseball for about five years but those Oregon State teams were the best I've seen in that time
M. Matheny
7:45
Should l be updating my résumé?
Anthony Franco
7:46
My guess is KC will let Matheny go, yeah
Marcus
7:46
Which teams would you put on "rebuild watch" over the offseason?
Anthony Franco
7:47
It's really not that many. There are a few already there -- Washington, Pirates, Oakland/Cincinnati kind of rebuilding in the sense that they just slashed payroll and then got bad
7:48
Otherwise I don't really see anyone joining that mix. I expect the Tigers to slow-play things for a year but they're not going to start a new full-scale teardown. Milwaukee's probably going to move a notable player or two for payroll reasons but not abandon hope of competing. I think like 25 teams will go into next season believing they're at least viable Wild Card teams
Oregon Giants Fan
7:49
Where do the Giants go from here? How do you expect the winter to go? What moves do they make?
Anthony Franco
7:49
Significant overhaul, one of the most active teams in free agency. I think they probably end up with one of the top FA shortstops as well as an impactful rotation addition, either retaining or replacing Rodón
Diamond Dar
7:50
Mike Elias keeps stating that this winter the Orioles will explore free agency.  Who do you think/hear they might be Interested in?
Anthony Franco
7:50
Elias has played everything pretty close to the vest beyond alluding to the fact that they'll be more aggressive as you said. Starting rotation kind of has to be the priority in my view
7:51
I doubt they bring Lyles back, think they'll add two starters. Probably one mid-tier guy like Jameson Taillon or Taijuan Walker on a multi-year deal
Nick Krall
7:52
Do I make any signings outside of some veteran depth end of the roster types or is that another year away?
Anthony Franco
7:52
(Reds)
7:53
I think the bigger moves are a year away. Going to have to add stopgap types in the outfield and at backup catcher, but I imagine they'll wait for the Moustakas/Votto money to come off the books before making any very notable additions

7:53
If the Rangers trade for pitching who do you see being a realistic trade partner.  Who gets sent out and who comes in?
Anthony Franco
7:55
They're a good fit with Miami or Cleveland. If the Marlins think Adolis García's a viable defensive center fielder -- and considering they played Jesús Sánchez there, they'd probably be fine with it -- I can see something lining up with García and some ancillary pieces for Pablo López
Chris
7:55
Does a winker for bellinger challenge trade make sense this offseason?
Anthony Franco
7:56
Not for Seattle. Bellinger's coming off a worse year and would make about $11MM more than Winker. Think Bellinger just gets non-tendered anyways
