Hey everyone, hope you're all having a good evening!
Probably going to have to hold this tight to an hour with the Cy Young announcements tonight, let's get rolling

Thoughts on the Nolan Jones deal and what it may mean for Cleveland?? A bigger deal coming and does maybe one of their trade partners want Juan Brito in return??
Anthony Franco
6:24
It's a fascinating deal but really I think it just means they love Juan Brito. He's got some incredible minor league numbers and while I know most public prospect reports thus far haven't been huge on him, individual teams are going to have their own evaluations
6:25
If they feel like Brito's a top 100 caliber prospect -- and he's a middle infielder who can hit, so that's a pretty good starting point -- then they probably just prefer him to Jones, who's obviously blocked at his best position in Cleveland anyways

6:25
Do we do anything to significantly upgrade for this year or are we still just waiting for all of our good prospects to become good so we can trade them?
Anthony Franco
6:25
I buy that Miami will trade starting pitching for offensive help. I don't think they'll be all that aggressive in free agency
John
6:25
Do you think the market will move faster this year compared to previous FA? Expecting any signings this week?
Anthony Franco
6:26
Nah it should be a lot slower than last year, when there was a flurry of activity around Thanksgiving to beat the lockout
6:27
Maybe we get one or two more early moves in the next few days, and the Winter Meetings will be active, but things probably level off pretty quickly after that. MLB offseason is just slow

Random salary cap question, but how is AAV determined when a player has an option/buyout? Does that buyout great spread over the guaranteed years?
Anthony Franco
6:28
Buyout of team/mutual option is just averaged out over the number of guaranteed years. Player options are counted as guaranteed money, so the entire salary of the player option is included and it tacks on a year to the AAV
So two years with a team option is counted as two years. Two years with a player option is three years

Which OFer am I going to trade after I picked up teoscar?
Anthony Franco
6:29
Sure seems like Winker's the likeliest to go. Wouldn't be shocked if they moved Lewis as well
Tammy
6:29
What do you think of the Angels signing of Tyler Anderson? Good? Bad? Should they still look to add to the rotation or do you think they are done?
Anthony Franco
6:30
Not how I would've started the offseason. Middle infield and left field feel like bigger priorities than the rotation to me, but I'm willing to wait things out to see how they address the position player group before judging the Anderson deal too harshly
6:31
In a vacuum, 3/39 and a draft pick for Anderson is fine, I guess. Don't think it's any sort of bargain but not a disaster either. That's right where we were going to project him before he got the QO, wish in retrospect we'd stuck with it

Does someone pay me Max S $$$?   Mets?   Angels? Dodgers?
Anthony Franco
6:31
I still like him at two years; Steve and Tim were much more confident in him getting to three
6:32
AAV in the Scherzer range feels right
Malcolm nunez
6:32
Who has more trade value: Lars nootbaar or Dylan Carlson ??
Anthony Franco
6:32
Carlson
Observer
6:32
who won the Seattle / Toronto trade ?
Anthony Franco
6:32
I think they both did well. Teoscar's the kind of guy who feels like he has more trade value than he actually does, because he's limited defensively and only controllable for a year at a fairly expensive rate
6:33
But he's unquestionably a good hitter, and the Mariners entered the offseason with more financial breathing room than the Jays did
6:34
So giving up Swanson and Macko makes sense from their point of view, while the Jays get a chance to reallocate some money while adding to what's arguably the weakest point of their roster
Pickle Rick
6:34
Mancini a legitimate target for the Guards?
Anthony Franco
6:35
Yeah I could see this. They could look to get a little more right-handed, have an opening at either first base or DH depending on what they do with Josh Naylor
Steve
6:35
Why can’t the Yankees stop hyping up IKF and just give the position to volpe or Peraza. If They didn’t trade these guys bc they’re so good what do they have to lose by just giving them the position in spring training and taking their chances? They can’t be any worse offensively or defensively
Anthony Franco
6:36
I expect they'll try to take Kiner-Falefa this offseason. Think it's Peraza's job before long even if IKF does come back
Connor
6:37
What do you think are the most realistic acquisitions for the Rangers?
Anthony Franco
6:37
Two more starting pitchers, one of whom is very good. They're a fit for any of the aces, could look into López trades, etc.
6:38
Also think they'll add somebody from the lower ranks of the corner outfield market. Haniger fits there, Benintendi makes some sense

Will we lose 100 again
Anthony Franco
6:39
I'll take the under on that. I like the core too much to think they're winning fewer than 65 games
Phillip
6:39
Is there a chance Strasburg gets traded this offseason?
Anthony Franco
6:39
Zero

What's your favorite world series in the last 40 years?
Anthony Franco
6:40
I can't go back that far, but in the 15 years or so since I really started following baseball, 2011, 2016 and 2019 stand out
