I don't know if we have any specifically lined up at this point. But yes, Tim's continuing to try to arrange those. Obviously, you need to find players willing to do them, which isn't everyone
Defense First!
4:41
Could you see Philly signing a glove first player like Andrelton, trading for Kiermaier, and spending big on a bat like Schwarber/ Castellanos?
Anthony Franco
4:41
I doubt they'll do all three of the things you mentioned, but they all make sense as potential courses of action, yeah
4:42
They're another team that looks likely to consider a Chapman deal, since he'd be a significant upgrade (at least defensively) over Bohm
Astros
4:42
Astros gonna come out Swinging for ?
Anthony Franco
4:42
Trevor Story?

4:42
Do you think the Angel's will trade for a pitcher?
Anthony Franco
4:43
I think they'll be in the market, at least, but I don't know that they have to. I actually think the rotation's in pretty good shape, much better than it's been in Anaheim for years
4:44
The middle infield's more concerning, in my view
Henry Blanco
4:44
Is Rizzo on the board for the Brewers on a 2-year deal?
Anthony Franco
4:45
Possibly, but I wonder if the Brewers would see him as enough of an upgrade over Tellez to do that
I think Nelson Cruz (assuming the NL DH is in play with the next CBA) makes more sense for Milwaukee
Are we the real deal?
4:46
Frabk Schwindy City, Raffy Ortega and Patrick Wizdom?
Anthony Franco
4:46
I'm most intrigued by Schwindel, who doesn't strike out and makes a decent amount of hard contact
4:47
Wisdom strikes out too often for me to buy him as a long-term regular, although I think the Cubs are in position to give him continued run at third to try to prove me wrong. Ortega's a fourth outfielder

Pineapple on Pizza.  Yay or nay?
Anthony Franco
4:47
Nah

I don’t see the Padres trading Hosmer or Myers. I don’t know why a team would want them(salary reasons). Do you agree?
Anthony Franco
4:48
Myers' money isn't awful. He wouldn't make $22MM next year as a free agent, but it's not a long-term commitment and he's coming off an OK year
4:49
I could see someone having interest if the Padres took back a different underwater deal, but San Diego's biggest need is in LF and it might just be easier to keep Myers there
4:50
Hosmer, yeah, I can't see it. Would require attaching a really interesting prospect to get someone to take that money
Extension Candidates
4:50
Who’s going to be the first one to sign an extension after the lockout?
Anthony Franco
4:50
Hmm, good question. Teoscar Hernández? Maybe Dansby Swanson?
Ross Atkins
4:50
If I have 25million left in my budget, am I better off spending it on Kris Bryant or spreading it out on more pitching?
Anthony Franco
4:51
Atkins is the Jays' GM
I think there's enough other issues (back-of-the-rotation, bullpen, maybe an upgrade over Grichuk in the outfield) that I wouldn't pour the rest of my resources into Bryant
Jeff
4:51
Could Andrew McCutchen or Tommy Pham fit into the Rays’ plans for a right handed bat to replace Nelson Cruz?
Anthony Franco
4:52
They do feel kind of Rays-ish, but I think a signing of one of those guys would have to come after a Margot or Kiermaier trade
4:53
Otherwise, the Rays' in-house OF/DH (Margot, Kiermaier, Meadows, Arozarena) is just better than either of McCutchen or Pham
Lockout
4:53
What are the main issues again? What is the history for compromise on those issues?
Anthony Franco
4:53
We're doing a series of Collective Bargaining Issues posts that covers what we see as the main points of contention
4:54
We've already covered Service Structure and Playoff Expansion, we'll get to one on the CBT threshold at some point for sure
Adam
4:55
Bichette, Kirk, Kloffenstein, Spraker for Ramirez, Quantril Clase.  How far off am I
Anthony Franco
4:55
Don't see any way the Jays are putting Bichette into a trade, even for a superstar like Ramírez

Giants spent 35.5 mill. for 3 pitchers I had on my Twins wish list (Deslafini, Wood, Cobb).  Any way to know if Twins were in on any of these guys and why not commit more than SF if trying to rebuild a rotation?  I don't get it?
Anthony Franco
4:55
Twins have been oddly quiet and kind of let the free agent rotation market get picked through, I agree
4:56
They probably need to land two fairly substantial upgrades via trade if they're going to have much of a shot of sticking around with the White Sox
Go Big
4:56
Are the Rockies really thinking of going for it? Their best case scenario is probably third place in the NL West
