The fans are the obvious losers in the lockout/strike. Who are the winners? Players without contracts? Owners without sales? Help me understand such rubbish.
Anthony Franco
9:26
There are no "winners." The league and union are at odds and neither is sufficiently motivated to come off their current asks in bargaining talks to make real progress yet
As the possibility of lost gate revenues (for owners) and game checks (for players) gets closer, then they'll be more motivated to bargain
Bernie Franks

Are there any teams out there that would take Jason Heyward off our hands. He can't hit his way out of a paper bag
Anthony Franco
9:27
Nah, not unless the Cubs are including prospect talent, which they shouldn't be doing
Chuck
9:28
If the guardians package a deal around Zack Plesak for an outfielder who do you think they would go after?
Anthony Franco
9:28
I think the Mets would have to add a bit more, but I wonder if a Plesac/J.D. Davis framework would work

What type of return do you think the Nats could get for Victor Robles? Could you actually come up with a realistic possible deal you could see involving him? Thanks.
Anthony Franco
9:29
I think he'd just bring back a 40 FV prospect -- a future utility guy, good-framed corner outfielder in A-ball, etc.

What signings do I need to make to make the playoffs?
Anthony Franco
9:31
If they managed to swing a trade for a star CF (Ketel Marte, Mullins, Reynolds, etc.) I think they'd be there
That's a lot easier said than done, obviously
Cubs fan

My dad thinks Nick Madrigal is nothing but a slappy singles can’t field second baseman.. is he right or am I crazy thinking otherwise
Anthony Franco
9:32
I think he's a better defender than you dad's giving him credit for. He's obviously a singles-heavy guy and not going to be an impact hitter, but I think he's pretty good
Similar to David Fletcher, who got $26MM guaranteed pretty early in his career
Hooah.
9:32
Why do you think the Dodgers are not signing any new players
Anthony Franco
9:33
I just think they're waiting out the new luxury tax numbers in the next CBA. Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies all did similar things
Clever Name
9:33
Who closes for the Rockies next season?  If they have illusions of contending, they need a better option than Estevez or Bard.
Anthony Franco
9:34
Feels like it's Bard. I agree that's not ideal for a contender but it's also far from their biggest issue
9:35
Alright everyone, have to get going to get something else up on the site tonight
Appreciate all the questions, and we'll do this again next week
9:36
As always, didn't get to everything I'd have liked to. I conduct an exclusive chat with Front Office subscribers every week as well
They're typically on Fridays but it's moved to tomorrow this week because of the holiday
9:37
Your odds of getting a question answered in one of those is about ten times higher because there's a significantly smaller queue
If that's of interest to anyone, you can look into our memberships here
9:38
I'll talk to you all next week. Have a good weekend and holiday if you celebrate!
Oh, almost forgot. You can reach me on Twitter @affranco10 if you've got other questions during the week
Have a good night!
