Nah, Gregorius was terrible at the plate last year and isn't a particularly good defender anymore
Mitch

What is one trade (rumored or just cooked up on your own) that you would've loved to see go down?
Anthony Franco
6:22
While I think the chances of this actually happening are like 0.0001%, a Julio Rodríguez-Trevor Rogers swap would've been fascinating
I made that one up btw, it's never been rumored because it's not happening
Stevil

Ryan Divish (Seattle Times) and Shannon Drayer (710 ESPN Seattle) both speculated over the possibility that the Mariners might consider flipping Adam Frazier, that he might be more of a fallback option than a certainty. If that's the case, would a swap straight across for Cody Bellinger make at least some sense? LA could use Taylor in CF (and rotate Pollock) with Frazier primarily at 2B and save a good 10m in the process. Seattle would get a legitimate CF option with some much needed pop (albeit not without risk) and still chase Story, Bryant, trade for Chapman or McNeil, etc., or even sign someone like Villar and/or use Toro in a regular role. They could reassess at the deadline.

6:23
Interesting thought. Probably won't happen but I see the logic for both sides
6:24
I have no idea what to do with Bellinger, but if anyone's in position to take a $17MM flier on a former MVP coming off an awful season, it's the Dodgers

6:24
Likely team Castellanos will end up with?
Anthony Franco
6:24
Idk, he was one of the hardest guys to peg in the Free Agent picks to begin with and I still don't have a great read on his market now
6:25
I said Padres going into the winter, and I can stick with that I guess. The Red Sox are plausible enough, maybe the Giants (particularly if there's an NL DH)
Astros fan
6:25
If the Astros were willing to take Piscotty to get Sean Murphy, what would Oakland want in return? Or is Murphy untouchable?
Anthony Franco
6:26
I don't think Murphy's untouchable but taking Piscotty at one year and around $8MM off their hands won't move the needle much
I'm sure they'd like to get the Piscotty money off the books, but that's not some kind of crazy commitment or anything
Cant wait
6:26
Who is the minor league player that you can’t wait to see in the show?
Anthony Franco
6:28
I'm excited for basically anyone near the top of a prospect list. I've loved George Kirby since I accidentally stumbled into one of his starts during his sophomore year in college, so he's one example beyond the obvious Rutschman, Witt, Rodríguez tier
Ross A.
6:28
Is Gurriel going to break out this year or has he peaked and we should trade him?
Anthony Franco
6:28
I think this is what he is. Good bat-to-ball skills, some power but an aggressive approach without a great defensive home
6:29
He's a decent player, and I don't think they have to trade him. But I'd be willing to move him if the right circumstances presented themselves
I am the walrus
6:29
What kind of prospect would Manea bring back?  Top 10+
Anthony Franco
6:30
Like a top ten guy overall? Definitely not. Top ten in a team's farm system, sure
Cards fan
6:30
Are we a dark horse story and correa ?
Anthony Franco
6:31
I don't really see it. They've got shortstop options already, the payroll's pretty well maxed out. The Cardinals beat writers seem to think bullpen and a potential 1B/COF/DH are more on the wish list than a top-tier shortstop
Mr KLC
6:31
I read the Witt Jr article earlier today.   Do you think Mondesi could make a good stopgap at SS for the Astros until Pena is ready?
Anthony Franco
6:32
Not crazy, although I wonder if Mondesi's approach is a little too volatile for Houston's taste
Rodon Lands?
6:32
Do you think that there is a possibility that Rodon gets bid up to a silly level following the resumption of negotiations? I get the one-year contract theory but there's not much left over out there, what do you think he can get in terms of years and annual average?
Anthony Franco
6:32
I think he'll get multiple years but I don't necessarily think it'll be all that silly
6:33
I was the high guy on Rodón while we were putting the Free Agents list together. If the Giants gave him, say, 3/70, I'd actually like it for the team
jason
6:33
Should the Braves sign another pitcher or go with Muller or Davidson?
Anthony Franco
6:34
Yeah I think they need to do something with the rotation. Seems like they've just been waiting on Freeman for a while but they have to upgrade other areas of the roster at some point. Rotation depth's one of them
Tim
6:34
What kind of contract did Seager walk away from?   Since Seattle declined his option.
Anthony Franco
6:34
We projected him at 2/24, I believe
Mr. Pepitone
6:35
Over or under with Aaron Hicks playing 120 games this season?
Anthony Franco
6:35
I'll go slight under. He just hasn't done it most years
Guest
6:35
Are free agents and other players who aren’t currently on a 40-man roster still technically a part of the MLBPA?
Anthony Franco
6:36
If they ended a season on a 40-man roster or MLB injured list, yeah
Mo
6:36
Looking at Steven Matz stats for his 7 years in the MLB, why did Mo over pay by giving him a 4 year 40 million dollar contract?
Anthony Franco
6:36
He's been decent in three of the past four years, and he gets a fair amount of grounders that should play with the plus defensive infield behind him
6:37
I don't think it's great value and wouldn't have done it. I'd have taken Disco at 3/36 or Wood at 2/25 over what the Cardinals gave Matz. But I don't think it's a complete disaster either
Redhaze
6:38
Reds need a lead off hitter and move India down to second. Anyway Tapia could be traded by the Rockies?
Anthony Franco
6:38
Yeah the Rockies beat has floated Tapia as a trade candidate enough that I think Colorado moves him
