The Pirates and Orioles would probably still deal from the MLB roster, but neither of them has starting pitching. Guessing the A's want to wait for Montas demand to build in July. Everybody else is at least vaguely trying to compete this year
5:20
I guess you could argue the Rangers aren't, but they're in the Pirates/Orioles boat of not having any good starters to trade anyways

Any word on the PA and MLB revisiting the QO issue yet? I thought it was supposed to be resolved sometime this year.
Anthony Franco
5:21
That doesn't have to be decided until July 25

Hi Anthony, what do you make of the Phillies? What do they need to keep up with the Mets? I don’t see any help from the Farm or remaining FA.
Anthony Franco
5:23
I think they'll hang around. Need Wheeler to be better obviously, I guess I'm moderately alarmed by Ranger Suarez's struggles so far but wouldn't say I'm overly concerned at this point
The defense isn't going to be good. Shortstop's a real question mark; Camargo isn't going to keep this up, and it would've obviously been nice to see Stott seize that job
5:24
But the top of the rotation and the offense should keep them in the thick of it

Do the Giants DFA Ruf when LaMonte Wade comes back? Gonzalez has looked really strong and Ruf is 35, has 0 home runs, and is limited defensively
Anthony Franco
5:25
I can't see that happening. He was so good in 2020-21 and they just signed him to a two-year deal in the spring. They'll let him work through it for at least a couple months
Snowballing here
5:25
Now that both leagues have the designated hitter why don't we just go with eight batters LOL
Anthony Franco
5:26
Both the league and union like the DH. The PA likes the opportunities it affords to older/defensively-limited players, the league wants to inject offense wherever it can get it

Suzuki not MVP according to you how about ROY
Anthony Franco
5:28
Yeah, he's the favorite for sure
Eddie Vedder
5:28
Is the astros run finally coming to an end?
Anthony Franco
5:28
No I still think they're really good
Padres
5:29
Abrams over matched, Kim meh, Grisham degressing, Cro slow start, Myers is Myers. I don't see us being able to compete no matter how good our pitching is.
Anthony Franco
5:30
Not concerned at all about Cronenworth. Bad start for Grisham but I think he'll still be fine. The shortstop situation is pretty rough, but I think the rest of the roster is good enough to hang at least in the Wild Card picture until Tatís gets back
5:31
I would be kind of surprised if they took the division though. They're the third-best team for me
Not down on Abrams long-term or anything, to be clear. But he does look overmatched right now, I think we're moving towards him getting optioned to El Paso given his lack of high minors experience

The pluses to the NFL/NBA/NHL Drafts are Insiders Live at it usly,In Offseason and Trades in them but MLB all Minuses plus not also on TBS/Peacock,Fox live to what do you think?
Anthony Franco
5:33
Do people watch the NHL draft? I don't think that's a particularly big event. I would like to see them allow trading draft picks, but the biggest flaws of the MLB draft are 1) people, by and large, don't care much about college baseball and 2) draft picks don't go right to the majors
5:34
Those are both innate. Maybe MLB could do a better job trying to promote interest in college baseball, but I don't know how successful they'd be

Does Bryan Reynolds get traded this year?
Anthony Franco
5:34
I don't expect him to, given how every team that has talked with the Pirates about Reynolds has come away bemoaning the asking price
Giants
5:35
Any chance of an upgrade at the catcher position at the trade deadline to gear up for the playoffs?
Anthony Franco
5:35
There are a bunch of impending FA catchers
5:36
Guys like Contreras, Barnhart, Sánchez, maybe Christián Vázquez could all get moved if their teams fall out of it
Rollie Fingers
5:36
As are 9-9, can they sustain or improve on .500?
Anthony Franco
5:37
I don't see it. It's a bottom-tier lineup
Angel Hater
5:37
Why do you hate the angels so much??  I mean they have Mike Trout and Ohtani....pitching is far better, and, and, and...
Anthony Franco
5:38
It's more just skepticism about the back of the lineup. Can the Tyler Wade, Taylor Ward, David Fletcher types hit enough to take them to a division title? I'm not sure
5:39
It's not that I think the Angels are bad. I think they're ok, just a little worse than Seattle and clearly below the Blue Jays and Yankees, who are two of the best teams in the American League
Ughhhh

I’ve been following this site from the beginning and you by far have the worst baseball acumen of any writer.  Sorry man, just being honest. ✌️

When all is said and done, does the Arenado trade go down as one of the worst in the history of Major League Baseball?
Anthony Franco
5:41
I think Austin Gomber and Elehuris Montero will be useful enough players we won't talk about it quite like that, but it's definitely bad

Am I crazy to still feel positive about a Braves team that has yet to win its first series in 2022?
