The velocity is in tact, which is always one early place to look. Not concerned yet, but it is a timely reminder that the top of the Mets rotation is held together by 40 and 38 year olds which does offer a fair bit of risk

Is LA overrated?
Simon Hampton
6:44
As a city? Never been a huge fan, San Diego is much better

When they started inter league play, it was a cute idea. Match the White Sox against the cubs, the Angels with the Dodgers, etc. Now that there is a balanced schedule where everyone plays everyone, there doesn't seem to be an American League or National League anymore. The thrill of the WS was seeing the best of the NL against the NL facing each other for the first time. Should  there just be one league, maybe The Major League, instead of pretending there are two different leagues anymore?
Simon Hampton
6:46
Yeah I'm not too fussed by AL/NL. Would actually rather see a East and West set up like the NBA, and reduce a bit of the travel

Who ya got tonight, Pereira or Adesanya?
Simon Hampton
6:48
I follow zero UFC but it's gotta be the Kiwi Adesanya

Are you an F1 fan, and if so, which team do you support?
Simon Hampton
6:48
Big F1 fan and gotta be McLaren (with a soft spot for Alonso at AM)

Any thoughts on the Nats season so far?
Simon Hampton
6:49
Not really, going about as expected. Interested to see how guys like Dom Smith perform with a bit of stability

Recently my son was able to play a high school game at the historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, AL (oldest base all stadium in the country). Sitting there taking in the magnificent history of the stadium, I wondered if MLB would ever have a game here today to commemorate the history (They have had games in other countries and the Field of Dreams) What are your thoughts?
Simon Hampton
6:54
I don't know a ton about the history of this particular example, but I do think these made-for-TV style special games are fantastic at bringing some excitement in the middle of a long season.

I love baseball and watch far too much of it, but the season can drag a bit through August and bringing in these sorts of games (and the London games) is a great way to break it up a bit

'21 Giants just a fluke? Or did they drop the ball by not building on that team and going for it?
Simon Hampton
6:55
That Giants team always looked like an over-performing one
Madison Bumgarner
6:56
How much leash is left?
Simon Hampton
6:58
Two rough starts but if he can come back to being that 4.5-5 ERAish starter then I think the Dbacks just keep him going and maybe cut him/eat the money in a trade in the winter. End of the day Arizona's not in urgent win-now mode so it's not awful to just keep him around as a back-of-the-rotation innings eater for a while, but if continues to walk five batters a game then yeah they might move on from him a bit sooner

how much ( in dollars)  has reynold's fast start cost the bucs?
Simon Hampton
6:59
Nothing, in the same way a 3-30 start wouldn't cost Reynolds anything

Vladdy or Bo, who do the Jays lock up first and who gets the bigger contract?
Simon Hampton
7:01
I prefer Bichette. His numbers are more consistent. Although if Vlad returns to his 2021 numbers this year it'd be hard to look past that
Canary M. Burns

Volpe back to the minors?
Simon Hampton
7:03
Volpe will have a pretty long leash I think, given how big his call up was. It's not been a great start but he'll be around a while

I take it all back. Soto just homered!  He is definitely not overrated now!😂😂
Simon Hampton
7:03
There you go

I thought your answer about a reconfigured MLB divided b/w East/West was very interesting. I think this is the way the game's been headed for years, and now with the universal DH and rule changes, there really isn't any difference b/w the leagues. One more tradition ready to be tossed out.
Simon Hampton
7:07
You've got to keep links to your history but you also can't let traditions stop you from improving things.

Of course, these are just my thoughts on how to improve things and I'd be interested to see how popular a shift away from AL/NL would be - I suspect it wouldn't be overly popular
Glasnow
7:09
Any update on glasnow? Can't imagine how much more filthy that rotation gets with him in it.
Simon Hampton
7:10
Haven't heard on Glasnow since mid-March when he was still in the treatment phase. Have to think he's still a while away though, obliques always take a bit of time and you could hardly blame the Rays for being a bit cautious.

Excited to see him for a healthy season though, the lad deserves a good run of health for a while
Schwarber
7:10
Why not get an OF & play me at 1B?
Simon Hampton
7:11
Well that's another option that I'm sure they'll consider, but the point was that they'll certainly address 1B. First base does tend to be one of the easier positions to find production in, so it might be easier and cheaper to get an external player to fill that rather than the outfield
Couple more then we'll call it
Tick Tock
7:12
What do you think of the claims that the pitch clock hurts olde rpitchers because they need mroe time between pitches to recover?
Simon Hampton
7:12
Adapt or die
Nationals
7:14
Soto needs to come back.  He was good here.  We can fix him.
Simon Hampton
7:14
Well in 18 months the Nats may be ready to be a bit more active in free agency...
Steve
7:16
Who's the Red Sox next extension candidate? Doesn't really seem like many guys are worth extending quite yet or at all. Verdugo?
Simon Hampton
7:16
Casas would be the guy if they really believe in him
Phills
7:18
When Harper comes back, he bats 2nd and schwarber moves to 4th?
Simon Hampton
7:19
Suspect so yeah. Turner at the top, followed by Harper, Realmuto and Schwarber. Very nice top four
