Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well!
Apologies on missing last week's chat, had some scheduling conflicts
Let's get rolling
Guards 4 life
3:02
Guardians potential acquisitions at the deadline if they are still clearly in the playoff race?
Anthony Franco
3:03
They need offensive help of some kind. Could go for someone like Benintendi to directly address the outfield, but I also wonder if they'd make a play for Josh Bell or Trey Mancini at first base
3:04
Push Owen Miller back to second regularly, kick Giménez over to shortstop and stop playing Amed Rosario
Josh
3:04
What trade/s do you see the Twins making by the deadline?
Anthony Franco
3:05
They'll be one of 10-15 teams looking for rotation help. Particularly after losing Paddack, feels like they're going to want at least another innings eater type
3:06
I think they'll look into the Montas/Castillo/Mahle higher-impact guys too, but they have to come out with at least a Chad Kuhl or Martín Pérez type if the asking price on the other guys is too high
3:07
I guess you could argue that Pérez deserves to be in that upper tier with how well he's pitched so far, but I don't know that teams will think he's really that much better than a back-end guy since he's still not striking people out
Ryan
3:07
I know it would be selling low. But with his stuff how much could Snell fetch in a Deadline deal for a pitching needy team?
Anthony Franco
3:08
Yeah this is interesting and I think the Padres might do this to free up some CBT breathing room for position player help
3:09
Snell's making $13.1MM this season and due $16.6MM next year. He's capable of ace heights but walking way too many guys right now and comes with some injury question marks
3:11
I think there's still surplus value -- the Blue Jays threw $36MM at Yusei Kikuchi last winter in search of upside -- but it's not a whole lot. They'd probably get a couple lottery tickets but nothing close to what they gave up for him
Cal
3:11
Who gets promoted first: Cruz, Greene, or Moreno?
Anthony Franco
3:11
Probably Greene. I think he'd have made the Opening Day roster if he hadn't gotten hurt

What kind of returns can the Cubs expect individually for Contreras and Robertson?
Anthony Franco
3:12
I think it's two mid-tier types for Contreras, solid prospects but not guys in a top 100. They got Alexander Canario and Caleb Kilian for Bryant last year, that feels about right for Contreras too
Less for Robertson but somebody probably gives up a high-upside lottery ticket type for him
Chriss
3:12
What do you think of bellinger’s future in LA? Think they will try to get some bats by trade line?
Anthony Franco
3:13
I think he's going to stick as the everyday center fielder for the rest of this season but is trending towards a non-tender next winter
Bobby M
3:13
What's the chance the Yankees pick up a OF like Happ or Reynolds
Anthony Franco
3:14
Probably depends on whether Gallo turns things around over the next month or so. If he and Hicks are still not hitting in mid-July, they'll probably make a run at another outfielder
Don't think the Pirates are trading Reynolds, but someone like Happ or Anthony Santander could fit
Rick Hahn
3:14
Any chance I sell at the deadline if things continue to look bleak (my offense doesn’t start hitting)?
Anthony Franco
3:15
(White Sox GM)
They'd have to be pretty far back, like 5+ games out of the final Wild Card spot
I don't see that happening
Guards 4 life
3:15
Or just trade Amed Rosario to a team like the angels.
Anthony Franco
3:16
They'll probably try to move him but I expect the Angels to aim higher
Billy Eppler
3:16
Hi Anthony, what do you think it would take for me to pry David Bednar from the Pirates?
Anthony Franco
3:16
(Mets GM)
3:18
Can't see them giving up Francisco Alvarez or Brett Baty for a reliever, but the Pirates aren't going to give up four affordable years of Bednar unless they're blown away
3:19
It's a tough fit. I doubt Mark Vientos is enough of a headliner. Maybe the Bucs love Ronny Mauricio and would start a trade package there? Mauricio seems like a guy teams would either love or want no part of
Wily Coyote
3:19
Do you see the extra playoff teams causing the trade deadline to be busier? I.e. more teams on edge of the playoffs.
Anthony Franco
3:19
I think it cuts the opposite way actually, since more teams can see a path to hanging in contention
3:20
That's more true in the American League, at least. Oakland, KC, Detroit and Baltimore are probably the only teams that believe they're out of it right now
3:21
The NL has a pretty clear top eight or nine (depending on how you feel about the Marlins), so there'll be more defined sellers there
Joey Bart
3:21
Have i had my last taste of the big leagues?
Anthony Franco
3:21
He'll be back in like a month
