Are the Phil’s better off using the money they have to spend on SS or pitching? I assume they will address both but where is the big money being spent?
Anthony Franco
5:20
They've already got a lot invested on the position player side. I don't think they'll do another megadeal for anyone this winter, but adding one of the better mid-range free agent starters feels like the priority to me
5:22
Stott getting another shot at one of second or shortstop is fine. Going to need to replace Segura (or bring him back for cheaper after declining his option) but the position player group is in good shape overall
Owner Buster Posey
5:22
Can I actually get Farhan to spend a dime this off-season? Judge, Correa, Turner..: fans are revolting
Anthony Franco
5:23
Yeah I fully expect the Giants to go big in free agency this offseason. Running it back with the old core after what they did last year was the right call in my opinion. Didn't work, time for a drastic overhaul
Tovar time?
5:23
Any chance Ezequiel Tovar will be the Opening Day SS for Rockies next season?
Anthony Franco
5:23
I'd be surprised he weren't
Nestor
5:24
Do you extend him?
Anthony Franco
5:24
Don't think you have to. Still arb-eligible for another three seasons beyond this one. I'd be ok just playing that out right now

5:25
Do you think the Phillies try to re-sign Thor at the end of the season...? If so what's the cost....?
Anthony Franco
5:26
Eh he's not been very good there and the market is loaded with mid-tier arms. They'll probably look elsewhere
5:27
As for Thor's value, feels like a 2/20 type. He's a perfectly fine #4 starter who throws relatively hard and has very good control, but the strikeouts have just evaporated post-surgery

5:28
Could  Wacha get a QO? I know there’s an injury concern, but he’s been the best pitcher for the Sox this season?
Anthony Franco
5:29
I'd be really surprised. Not missing a ton of bats, hasn't topped 130 innings since 2017. It'd be an easy call for him to accept in my view
5:30
If he repeats this year's performance, that's fine, but I don't buy him as a true talent sub-3.00 ERA guy (or particularly close) over multiple seasons

5:31
With Plawecki with the Rangers now, any sense Eovaldi heads there? He was Eovaldi’s personal catcher the last few years. And they need to upgrade their pitching.
Anthony Franco
5:31
Plawecki's going to be a free agent again in three weeks
5:32
Not that Texas couldn't re-sign him -- they probably brought him in as a quasi-audition for a 2023 contract -- but I don't think it inherently gives them a leg up on the bidding for Eovaldi regardless
Trayce Thompson
5:34
Is he just lucky or is his reverse split and high babip for real? Do you see LA keeping him and releasing Bellinger?
Anthony Franco
5:35
I wouldn't say he's been lucky. He's hitting the ball really hard, I think he's earned all the good results he's gotten thus far
5:36
That doesn't inherently mean he can keep playing like this, though. He's got a pretty long pre-2022 track record of being a platoon/depth player. I think that's probably what he winds up settling back in as, even if his last couple months have been excellent
Harold
5:36
Why didn’t the Braves go after Soto? An outfield of Soto Acuña and Harris would be insane.
Anthony Franco
5:37
Nationals were not dealing him in the division, and I don't think the Braves could've beaten the Padres offer without putting Harris in as the centerpiece regardless
Jonathan
5:38
Do you think judge will be first $50 million AAV player?
Anthony Franco
5:38
Nah that's so far beyond anything we've ever seen. If he were signing for like two years, somebody would probably do it, but not over eight or nine
Loyal Fan
5:39
Who are your dark horse candidates for any awards?
Anthony Franco
5:40
I don't know if it's really a dark horse, but I think Framber Valdez should get serious consideration for AL Cy Young
5:41
NL Rookie of the Year is going to come down to Michael Harris/Spencer Strider, but the #3 spot is pretty wide open. I'd have Brendan Donovan there right now
Hinch
5:41
Yankees seem to be getting a little long in the tooth what moves do your see for 2023
Anthony Franco
5:42
Whole offseason feels like it hinges around Judge to me. I expect them to get that done but that'd obviously be the big move of the winter
5:43
As far as roster changes, acquiring a new third baseman while trying to shed some of the Donaldson money makes sense. Going to need a little more rotation depth if Taillon walks
Tyler Anderson
5:44
Will the Dodgers date QO me?
Anthony Franco
5:44
Doubt it

5:45
How does Elvis Andrus's performance over the past several weeks affect his offseason?  What kind of contract can he get?
Anthony Franco
5:45
Locked in a major league deal. Probably still in the 1/5 José Iglesias range though

5:46
Opinion of Brady Singer.
Anthony Franco
5:47
Solid 3/4 starter. Don't think he repeats a 3.07 ERA and a 24% strikeout rate annually unless he finds a better changeup. That's been an issue basically since college, and while he's using it more this year, it's still not missing bats
5:48
I like him, to be clear, but more in the 3.75-4.00 ERA range than this season's #2 starter type production
Alright I have to run and fill in that Andújar DFA post
5:49
Thanks for all the questions today, apologies for the stuff I couldn't get to
