Anthony Franco

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a good one! Going to give the queue another minute or two and then we'll get started
Brian
5:35
Where would you rank Julio on an AL MVP ballot? 6th or 7th?
Anthony Franco
5:36
I haven't mapped it out yet but the range you suggested feels about right. Judge - Ohtani - Yordan probably top three, then maybe José Ramírez and a bunch of guys (Julio included) in consideration for 5-10
Dan
5:36
Who would be your top 5 (in order) in the AL ROY race?
Anthony Franco
5:38
Julio, Adley, Kwan, Kirby top four. Fifth spot's really tough. Probably Jeremy Pena
Kldhca
5:38
Whats Judge contract going to look like
Anthony Franco
5:39
I'm increasingly leaning towards nine years at the position player AAV record, like $37MM per. That'd come out to $333MM
AA
5:40
Can Michael Harris be a 30/30 guy on a consistent basis? Or is he due for some serious regression after this season?
Anthony Franco
5:41
30-30 annually is an almost impossible ask. There's only a handful of guys who pull that off each season, so I wouldn't go so far as to project it for Harris
5:42
That said, the physical ability is such that I wouldn't be surprised if he gets there in any given year. Think he'll steal around 30 annually and hover between 20 and 30 homers, particularly if he becomes a little more selective with experience and really hones in on stuff he can drive
Twins Fan
5:42
What moves do you see the Twins making this offseason to hopefully get a playoff win?
Anthony Franco
5:43
Going to need a couple external bullpen pickups, a little more certainty at the back of the rotation. They'll have to figure out what to do at shortstop if Correa leaves, could see them flipping Kepler and upgrading in a corner outfield spot. I think they'll be really active again
John
5:43
Tony live chats, what’s a reasonable expectation for the Orioles next year in a stacked division?
Anthony Franco
5:44
"Tony live chats," can't say I've heard that one before haha
Wild Card competitiveness again, but in a way that feels more real as opposed to a bunch of guys hitting their 95th percentile outcomes and the bullpen pitching out of its mind
5:45
The position player group should be above-average. Bullpen probably takes a step back but I expect them to compensate for that by adding a couple mid-rotation starters and not giving 450 PA's to Rougned Odor
Doug
5:45
Do you see the white Sox moving any current players to improve their roster construction?
Anthony Franco
5:47
I think it'll be a pretty similar roster to this year's group, particularly if Reinsdorf is willing to spend to keep Abreu around. Maybe they deal Sheets for a lighter hitter with more defensive value to clear the logjam of corner bats, going to need to add some back-end rotation help with Cueto headed for free agency
larry
5:47
the reds are terrible now, but they have three young starters that look good, any chance they contend for the central in 2024?
Anthony Franco
5:49
Yeah I think that's plausible. Going to need to eventually fill in the lineup, particularly the outfield, but there'll be a ton of financial space after '23 once Votto and Moustakas come off the books
5:50
It's unfortunate they stopped pushing in right as they were nearing the end of the rebuild, but there's still enough controllable MLB talent there between the pitchers, Stephenson, India and maybe Steer that I don't think they're doomed for the next three to five seasons
CardsWin22
5:50
What does Trey Turner cost if the Cardinals really want to upgrade at short? Would 6/195 do it?
Anthony Franco
5:51
Well over, I'd guess in the $260MM range
Kevin
5:51
Sometimes I see players OBP is lower than their batting average. Why?
Anthony Franco
5:51
Occasionally happens in small samples because a sac fly counts against a guy's OBP but not his average
Paul
5:52
Good afternoon Anthony, What are the chances the Sox sign both Devers & Xander to extensions this offseason? If not both which one do you think is most likely to sign?
Anthony Franco
5:52
Both definitely isn't happening. Hard to see Bogaerts sticking around. Devers feels unlikely given how far apart they reportedly were this spring but is more plausible than Xander
Tyler Anderson
5:53
I think Dodgers should give me a QO.  We are a perfect match and one more year will buy time for Miller and others.  Maybe I would get three years forty million elsewhere but I just take the QO if offered.  Crazy talk or not?
Anthony Franco
5:54
I don't think it's crazy but expect Anderson would accept. Somewhere in the $20MM range is higher than I'd want to go for a pitcher whose velocity, strikeouts and swinging strike rates are all basically the same this year as they've been in previous seasons
WD
5:54
Whats the most reasonable of the 4 FA SS that could end up in Seattle?
Anthony Franco
5:56
I think they're all viable fits but if I had to pick one for Seattle, I'd go Bogaerts. He's the likeliest to move off the position relatively quickly (although he's been fine at short this year), a more consistent offensive track record than either Correa or Swanson
5:57
And with Crawford already there, I think Bogaerts as a second baseman makes a ton of sense if he's willing to kick across the bag in the right situation
Steve
5:57
No interest in MLB
Anthony Franco
5:57
Feels like you've come to the wrong place
Mister
5:57
What's Atlantas plans over the winter?
Anthony Franco
5:59
Position player core is basically locked in forever, aside from Swanson. They'll try to keep Dansby, I'm sure. If he departs, I'm guessing they'll look for shortstop help since scouting consensus seems to be that Grissom's not great there
6:00
Maybe Grissom gets some outfield work next spring. As far as offseason targets, sorting out the rotation behind Strider, Fried and Wright is a must. Could open extension talks with any of that trio as well

Phillies paid Moniak for Thor. So far Thor has been underwhelming...Do you think Dombrowski saw something..?
Anthony Franco
6:01
I just think they expected Thor to be a capable 3/4 starter like he was in Anaheim and had given up on Moniak as a regular
Arte,
6:01
Should the Angels re-sign Lorenzen? What moves can they make to shore up that terrible infield?
