Why is my team so quick to give up on Dom Smith? Why not platoon him with Flores (who might be stronger against lefties, but started coming around with power against right handers last year) for a year? Kid's still young and a lot of potential

Don't think they're giving up on him for good. Just exploring a one-year stop-gap (they're are many available), I believe, to give him some more time in the Minors. Seems to have AAA figured out, but wasn't quite ready for the Majors. If they want to compete in 2018, better to not have too many question marks heading into the season.

Steve said Galvis is most likely to be traded; what do I get for him?

I'll use the Padres as an example since they might be the best fit. I'd say a lower-level pitching prospect that isn't in their Top 10 but would be in most team's Top 10. So maybe a guy like Pedro Avila, who dominated in Low-A but is considered a mid-rotation/back-of-rotation starter.

Max Pentecost to the Braves in the Rule 5 draft? Any other names to watch out for?

I think Pentecost will go sooner than Braves pick. Because of his shoulder problems, most teams figure he can be stashed on the DL for much of the season.

I think Twins pitchers Kohl Stewart and Ryan Eades will be taken. A's pitcher Casey Meisner, Royals 1B Frank Schwindel and Ryan O'Hearn would be interesting picks.
Wil Myers

I said that I'd move back to the OF if we sign Hosmer, but I've been way more valuable as a 1B (stayed healthy and hit much better). Any chance I get traded if Hosmer comes here?

For sure. I'd say it's more likely he stays put and plays RF. Hunter Renfroe would be easier to trade since he's not owed a ton of $ like Myers.
Yo!

Did you intentionally choose 'Bo' and 'Jackson' consecutively?

Haha. I wish I could say I did that on purpose but I don't even look at the names.

Ohtani is 23, is he going to be an impact player next season or will it be a few seasons until he really blows up?
AvatarJason Martinez

From what I've been reading, he's a special talent. Maybe he needs a year to get comfortable, especially if he's trying to hit and pitch, but should be an impact player by year 2 or 3.

Who's your fav for AL/NL ROY 2018? (Besides Ohtani)

Sounds like the Braves are trying to clear an OF spot for Acuña with the assumption that he's ready on Opening Day or at least early in the season. He has to be a favorite. I'd put Nick Senzel in the mix if he can make it to Cincy by mid-May. In the AL, I like Brent Honeywell's chances. Maybe Willie Calhoun if the Rangers can get him some regular ABs.

That's all for me. Thanks for chatting. Feel free to send any questions to @mlbdepthcharts. Same place and time next Wednesday for the Winter Meetings edition.
