If giants can move belt can you see posey and Bart moving back and forth between first and catching?
Mark P
10:27
Honestly, the Belt extension seemed odd to me even at the time, since it was widely expected that Posey would eventually need more time at first base.

It seems like everyone loves Bart and has him ticketed for a quick rise to MLB, so if he tears up the minors, I can see the Giants pushing to move Belt by midseason (unless they're contending)

Can’t see Greinke sticking with D-backs for whole season. If WSox even sniff contention, could he be had for low level prospects while taking on all that $$?
Mark P
10:28
It could depend on whether or not Greinke has the ChiSox on his no-trade list.  Also, I'm a little doubtful that the D'Backs would be satisfied with getting virtually nothing back for Greinke besides salary relief.

Castellanos has terrible defense, but would he otherwise be a decent trade for the Giants if they can get him for a good trade price? A career .274 hitter who's hit 20+ homers the past two seasons sounds pretty good
Mark P
10:29
That's a pretty big "otherwise."  Castellanos doesn't seem like a good fit in that big San Francisco outfield.

The Rays always seem to be ignored, what's the chance they step up this year and challenge the the big two in the AL East?
Mark P
10:30
Pretty decent, though the Rays need a lot to once again break their way

Is there a way to find out the differences (if there are any) in what insurance pays for injured players on large contracts?
Mark P
10:33
It varies on a case-by-case basis.

p.s. I love that movie

What odds would you put on a Goldy extension?
Mark P
10:35
Pretty low odds, unless the Cards are willing to overpay.  Goldschmidt has already taken one below-market contract in his career, he's going to be looking for top dollar in his next deal.  Besides that, there's also the common sense case that he wants to see how the season goes, how he likes St. Louis, etc. before making a long-term commitment to them

Are the Astros satisfied with their rotation?
Mark P
10:38
I wouldn't be, if I was them.  For a team going for a World Series, I'd want a more solid #3 than Miley.
Mookie Betts
10:39
Any idea what my market is looking like in a couple years?
Mark P
10:42
Betts can be a free agent after the 2020 season, and he turns 28 in October 2020.  If he keeps up this awesome all-around production, I can see a $300MM deal coming his way.  Having Betts and Trout as free agents in the same offseason would be wild

is jorge alfaro bound for a breakout season with marlins
Mark P
10:44
I like Alfaro a lot, and he's a nice pickup for Miami.  Good young catchers are hard to come by.  Wasn't long ago he was a highly-touted prospect
On that note, we'll call it a night for the chat!

Scheduling item: next week's Sunday chat will take place around 2:30pm CT.  Until then!
