Chicken or the egg argument for baseball prospects being unknown? the fault of less attention paid to it by the pros or the nature of development?
Mark P
8:48
Like I noted earlier, the popularity of college football and basketball automatically generate more attention for those prospects.  NFL and NBA fans all know who Kyler Murray or Zion Williamson are......only a small fraction of MLB fans know about Adley Rutschman or Bobby Witt Jr.
8:49
Plus, if you're an Arizona Cardinals fan, you can hope that Kyler Murray can make your team better as early as this fall.  If the Orioles draft Rutschman first overall, Baltimore fans can't count on him being a factor in MLB until probably 2022 or so.

Mickey Moniak and Nick Pivetta enough to headline a trade for Bumgarner?
Mark P
8:50
I think the Giants should get enough interest in Bumgarner that they could aim higher than buy-low types of players

Who are your all-time favorite starting pitchers?
Mark P
8:51
Living in Canada and watching the Jays for years, Roy Halladay is at the top of my list.  Just a true ace of a pitcher.

Why is Indians mgt so content to let Lindor hit free agency?  Isn’t he a franchise player who excites fans and worth a long term investment?
Mark P
8:54
He is, but it doesn't seem like the team is willing to make the $200MM+ investment it will take to sign Lindor.  This is also just speculation on my part, but I also wonder if Lindor himself would prefer to play elsewhere, which could be a reason (beyond "betting on himself") but he has resisted signing an extension.

Do you see Boston's slow start as a sign for the entire season or is the sample size to small right now?  Sale and Mookie gotta get going to MVP CY Young levels
Mark P
8:57
Betts has been red hot for the last couple of weeks, so I'm not worried about him.  Sale's start is a larger concern, no doubt.

Slow start notwithstanding, I'd still be very surprised if Boston didn't reach the postseason.

How exciting are Tapia and Monsesi? Bringing back the triple!
Mark P
8:58
Tapia has been on my list of under-the-radar guys for a while now.  It never made much sense to me that the Rox kept playing CarGo or Desmond while Tapia just sat in Triple-A.
And on that note, we'll call it a wrap on tonight's chat.  Thanks for all the questions, and enjoy tonight's episode of Pete's Dragon!
