They were in on Corbin, though weren't willing to go beyond four years.  Now, I guess you can parse whether that counts as being "in on" a player or not, since literally everyone predicted Corbin for at least a five-year contract.
And the Yankees did get Paxton and Happ last winter, and they didn't know Severino would miss most of the year

Morning Mark:  Do you think the Giants may be waiting til the end of the World Series to name Joe Espada as their new manager?
Mark P
11:50
Potentially, or an announcement could come on the off-day between Games 5 and 6

If i offer Cole the largest pitching contract ever would he come here?
Mark P
11:51
(Mark Shapiro being the Jays' team president)

There's a chance Cole gets the biggest SP contract ever without having to go to a non-contender in a tough division, so I'd guess Toronto would have to significantly overpay to land Cole.

RZ back with the Nats next season?  If so how much $
Mark P
11:53
I can see the Nats bringing him back for one year and maybe 4-5MM

Cole Hamels to STL
Mark P
11:54
Hamels would be a good fit in STL, certainly.  Wouldn't cost a ton, either

Which Park in all of MLB is most affordable. Just so I know where I can go without giving up body parts?
Mark P
11:55
Wait, some stadiums are asking for body parts?

With so many teams needing top level pitching do the Braves have any realistic targets?
Mark P
11:56
I'd be surprised if Atlanta made a push at the top of the pitching market, but I could see them exploring the Odorizzi/Keuchel tier.  I also wouldn't rule out the Braves trading for pitching

Can BVW bring back a shut down bull pen arm for Dom Smith or JD Davis?
Mark P
11:58
BVW = Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen

I don't see why the Mets would deal Davis after the season he had.  Smith is more of a possibility because Alonso is blocking him at 1B and I'm not sure Smith is too viable defensively in the outfield.  Those same reasons, of course, might prefer another team from being willing to give up a top-flight reliever for Smith in a deal, but I do agree that Smith seems like a good trade chip this offseason

Springer, Brantley and Reddick are all free agents after next year, who is the most likely to sign an extension?
Mark P
11:59
Springer by a wide margin

Who is the next reclamation project (i.e. Charlie Morton, Wade Miley) that the Astros sign this year?
Mark P
12:00
That's the beauty of the reclamation project --- could be anyone coming off a so-so year!

Is former #1 overall draft pick Mickey Moniak a bust?
Mark P
12:02
Moniak could really use a nice breakout year, but he's still only 21, so it's too early to call him a bust.

Dominic Smith for Jonathon Holder?
Mark P
12:02
I doubt the Yankees and Mets will ever make any sort of a notable trade with each other
12:03
That's it for me this morning, enjoy Game 5!
