Hello, friends
We're so close to the first day of school, I can taste it
Let's baseball!
Yankee Clipper
11:01
Judge's numbers since he's come back (small sample) plus DH only since activation suggest he might be hurt worse than Yankees are letting on. Would you trade Judge? Our deadline is this week and I have a standing offer for Yelich. Thanks.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
He might be more hurt than they're letting on, but that might just mean he came back too early in a "heal on the go" situation.
I could be talked into trading him, but not for a lowball

So now that some time has passed, what's your current take on Gunnar Henderson? Optimistic for 2026, or ... ?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
Still pretty bullish, especially considering what his likely draft price will drop to
11:04
His performance vs LHP still leaves a ton to be desired (and could lead to big dips when over lefty-heavy stretches) but he's been pretty damn decent since the disastrous start
hold on
11:05
.299/.375/.483, .370 wOBA, 139 wRC+ since the start of May
better than decent!

Trade deadline this weekend and I'm loading up for a playoff push with a dynasty team. My trade assets include Kjerstad, Beavers and Kristian Campbell. Which one do I want to keep, if possible, because he's going to be a great MLB contributor?  If I only end up trading one, who are you least disappointed to lose? Also, I've had Jose Caballero and he was a great source of SBs when he was with the Rays. But the Yankees don't run much, right, and he's a bit of a lost cause as a stolen base source now? thanks
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
I have the least faith in Kjertstad, by far
11:06
Like Beavers, but Campell would still be my pick for "mostly likely to make you regret everything"
11:07
Yeah, Caballero is lost until they actually start playing him -- only two starts since acquired

11:07
I have a pretty stacked fantasy team but for my back up first base options I have Michael Busch and Manzardo available. Who would you roster?  Josh Naylor is my starter.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
I'd rather have Busch
GBS42
11:08
Brad Lord or Hurston Waldrep if I need Ks and wins?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:08
Waldrep
GBS42
11:09
Kyle Karros or Brady House at 3B if I need runs scored and HR, in that order?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
House
Holy Roman Empire

12 team OBP/QS dynasty league. Sitting comfortably in 3rd place. Would you trade Anthony ($14 + 25% annual inflation) for JRam + Naylor ($15 + inflation)?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
for sure
11:10
hate to give up the upside of Anthony but that's a whole lot of right-now value
Closer Help!
11:11
Hi Nicklaus, who would you go with for the moment (Maton (just got dropped), Topa or Henriquez? I refused to overpay at the last night’s trading deadline for a 3rd closer.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:11
Henriquez
11:12
not great options (for opps) but think he gives you the best shot to take job/be good w/K's

My tenth place WHIP is 1.272, fourth place is listed at 1.251. Is my best way to gain points dropping E Rodriquez and Gallen and picking up a couple of relievers? Is there time left in the season for that to make the difference?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
Yes
and 100%
This is one of my favorite subjects
11:13
wrote something about it a couple of years ago (at FG?)
there is generally a lot of hay to be made in the ratio standings

If trying to catch up in the Wins category and considering starting pitchers with mediocre talent/skills, are there a handful of weak or slumping teams you would target in order to pick up a few wins here and there? I suppose you also need to take into consideration the strength of the opposing starting pitcher when deciding who to start . . . any guidance here would be kindly appreciated as an extra couple of wins in a tight league can make the difference between cashing or not, but a few disaster starts could send you in the opposite direction
Nicklaus Gaut
11:14
not to be "go read what I wrote" guy, but this is a subject I love going over
11:15
You obviously want to attack bad teams, but what you really need to pay attention to is how they handle each hand of pitcher
11:16
there are often big gaps in how teams do vs RHP and LHP, regardless of their overall offensive quality.
IE. there are some really good teams that are horrible vs a particular hand, and bad teams that are pretty good vs a particular hand
those are the margins you want to pay attention to
