I believe I made those with the FanGraphs auction calculator, for a typical 5x5 league

Is Thomas Saggese going to get enough playing time to justify a roster spot?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:58
No, not yet

Nicklaus Gaut

I got a lot of mileage last year out of Jacob Lopez and if he makes the roster, he will be the 5th starter for the A's.  Worth a stash?  I think he was sneaky good last year, but nobody noticed because he's on the A's.
Nicklaus Gaut
2:02
I think he'll be usable again, but don't think you neccessarily need to stash him now

Cal Raleigh is ranked 16th in hitters and obviously 1st for Catchers.  My friend and I share a team and our draft is a week from Monday.  My friend likes the big hyped players, where I go more for the bargain players.  So Raleigh is something we debate.  As the # 16 player we might have to grab him in round 2.  I think it's a little foolish because it's very possible he ends up as the best hitting catcher but by a smaller margin.  The next best catcher is William Contraes ranked as the 44th hitter in our league.  Other options going rounds later is Langeliers, Goodman, Rice & Perez.  Personally I love Baldwin on the Braves or Alvarez on the Mets, who should be in the lineup everyday at catcher or DH.  Where do you stand on the Cal thing?  Is he worth taking with a second round pick?  Or use that pick for a more all around player and then grab a catcher in round 6-10 with 20 HR upside and hopefully a better BA.  This is a 12 team Roto League.

I love me some big dumper, but I'm only drafting him at those prices in a 2-catcher league
I have him in TGFBI (15-team, 2 catcher)
got him at #23
Caleb Durbin
2:04
Will i ever be as good again as I was in 2025?  Green monster can’t hurt!
Nicklaus Gaut
2:05
speaking of my TGFBI team...
yeah, I'm in on Durbin this year. have him in a couple of places

Is Mike Trout really not worth a 5th or 6th round pick in a H2H 10 person AL/NL pick?  Where would you pick him?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:06
I think he's worth that on paper, but at this point, everyone is just baking in a season-ending injury at some point

Who is the most undervalued Fantasy Baseball Catcher?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:06
Sal Perez is undervalued literally every year
he's my other catcher in TGFBI ; )

Am I wrong to significantly reduce the value of dodgers prospects in fantasy? It’s clear the org doesn’t value development, and would rather supplement with stars from outside than grow their talent. That’s great from a baseball perspective, but why even bother rostering guys like Alex freeland while just praying for a trade?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:07
I think you're right but I wouldn't let it weight my fantasy moves too much
Clarence Odbody

Oh thank goodness you are back.  Hope you are most excellent.   That’s all for now.

Hi Nicklaus, thanks for bringing the fantasy chat back!
I see Julio Rodriguez continuing to rank in the top 10, but I have lived through his slow starts before - any reason to hope that he starts out a bit hotter this year, or by drafting him am I just hoping his second half is strong enough to make up for a slow start?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:11
hope for hotness but plan for history repeating

Keeper decision day is upon us - in a 10 team categories league (with Ls and OPS) with a salary cap, would you prefer to keep a $5 Misiorowski (who is young and cool and fun but maybe not going to last a full season), or an $8 Luzardo (who may not be able to recreate what he did last seaon)?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:11
Luzardo

What do you make of hot springs for players that had some success, but then took a nosedive?  (A la Matt McClain.)  Do we buy in?  If so, how much?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:11
I'll never quit Matt McLain
