Don't have atop-12 list of the top of my head, but here's who I like the most
Whitlock
Cleavinger
1:15
Gabe Speier
Love me some Hunter Gaddis
Martin and Vest
1:16
Reasoning is basically the same for all - good stuff + lots of innings and high-leverage opportunities
Beano
1:16
O Cruz has had a good spring but I read that he will be in a strong side platoon - that means less ABs - does that add or subtract from his value to a fantasy team? Teams frequently sit younger players against lefties or righties and I wonder if that impedes their maturation into better hitters.
Also V Scott, if I may ask one more -- will he hit enough to be rostered by fantasy leaguers or ST Louis? I realize his defense is amazing but a whole in the lineup every 9th guy is problematic

1:16
He's a whiffer!
1:18
Cruz might put up some of the worst lines you'll ever see vs LHPs, but I'm sure the Pirates will continue giving him 100+ PA against them
1:19
Scott will play, the Cardinals aren't exactly swimming in better replacements
I think he's fine as a late-round flyer in deeper leagues, but not much beyond that
SS
1:21
Last year I got Perdomo as a free agent in early May. How highly should I prioritize him this draft? He's not really a top few rounds guy, but how many SS can you realistically take before him?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:22
I've gotten a lot of value out of him the last two years, but I'm not paying those top-100 (and higher) prices.
I think he's like a top-8 guy

10 team AL-only league, Saves + 0.5 Holds category.  I punted saves in my draft and overloaded on starters.  Rotation is DeGrom, Ragans, Pepiot, Schlittler, Gore, Weathers, Cantillo, Z Matthews.  Would you drop any of those guys for a saves/holds guy like Akin, Armstrong, Bigge, Hendriks, Pomerantz, Schreiber, or Winn?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:24
I'd rather have Armstrong over Cantillo/Zebby
cambo
1:25
Nasim Nunez.....thoughts? Worth a speculative roster spot right now just based on speed potential?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:26
Depends on the depth of your roster, but I think he's a fine flyer
sorry got distraced by a cat
Mets fan
1:26
As a first time fantasy manager but a lifelong mets fan with no met players on my roster, what do I do if one of my players are playing my mets??
Nicklaus Gaut
1:26
I'm sorry
1:27
I kid! I kid!
I root for the Cards first, and fantasy second
1:28
You can't control the outcome, regardless, so might as well stay true to your baseball heart
RAGBRAI
1:28
How do you see saves shaking out I'm Milwaukee? Who ends up with more, or will it be evenly split for the most part?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:28
I still think Megill ends up getting the majority
Shane Baz

2025 home ERA/WHIP: 5.90/1.46, 2025 road ERA/WHIP: 3.86/1.21. Get on the train now that he's out of that bandbox?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:29
It can't hurt

Counterpoint: notoriously injury-prone player just pitched 40 more innings than he ever has before

Hi Nicholas.  Thanks for the chat.   In a 12-team H2H weekly format with scoring categories Single, Double, Triple, Home Run, RBI, Walks, Strikeouts, Run Scored, SB, CS, HBP, Error, and Grand Slam for Hitting and Win, Loss, Save, Blown Save, Effectiveness (2xIP) - (2xER), Walks Allowed, Strikeout, Hits Allowed, WP, Balk, and Hit Batter, how would you determine whether to play Shohei Ohtani as a DH or a SP?   We are allowed to designate the player before the week begins?  Up to now, I've been using him as a DH, but I do have others who can fill the role, though, definitely not as well
Nicklaus Gaut
1:31
Default should be DH, but I think it should still be on a week-by-week basis
cool 1
1:32
If you use a service that gives you weekly projections like Rotowire or Razzball (I use the latter), they can be a good guide
1:33
When I've had him, I end up using him at DH mostly, but adjust depending on pitching matchups, and where the rest of my team is at
Gwynning
1:34
Need to round out a head-to-head lineup with a "last round pick" type of guy... position doesn't matter as he'll be bench/DH or injury filler... who you looking for with a similar type pick?  I'm thinking Colton Cowser/Luis Garcia/Dylan Crews types... but open for your input!
Nicklaus Gaut
1:35
If you can get Crews last, I would do that

Hey, Nicklaus! 8-team NL-only, 5x5 Roto. 1 C and 2 Util spots. Which of these SS would you keep: Adames ($10), Tovar ($8), Winn ($1)?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:36
Honestly, those are all great values
in a vacuum without your other budgetary needs, I'd keep Adames

I’m in the late stages of an Ottoneu auction draft and need an emergency, backup OF. Is J Garcia (Pittsburgh) or K Alcantara more likely to break camp? Otherwise I’m stuck with Soler or Benintendi
