How early is too early to throw in the towel?

Pardon the long-winded q: In a long time 10 team keeper league ($400 budget, 45 man rosters) and I've been snakebitten all year by injuries and slow starts. Traditional cats but OBP and QS. I am currently in 7th with 44 points and the leader has 86. I very much believe my team has room to move -- hitters especially have been better lately and pitching is decent -- but I am also dead last by a mile in runs (290 -- 9th has 306, 8th 328) and OBP (.295 -- 9th is .316) -- this is also a contract/keeper league where you can trade for future assets. I feel pretty hooped but also dont want to play for 2027 yet. Is it already too late for me? Several other guys are throwing in the towel already -- should I try to buy their expirings and make a run? Is there a tangible way to decide?

First, really scope out where things stand

Take a hard look at how many points you could reasonably improve in each category, taking into account which teams might be tanking. If it’s a (somewhat) reasonable distance, then pore over the tanking team rosters to see what distressed assets you could add, and how much more they could add to your possible category improvements from before.
If you’re now within some sort of striking distance, then it’s certainly worth exploring what kind of deals might be swung. I wouldn’t be looking to give up a ton on big risks, but situations like this (mult teams giving up early) usually have opportunities for some arbitrage.
But if, after an honest assessment, your most likely paths to victory involve a whole lot of variables going right, it might be time to start planning for ‘27.

I’m going to take a short break from complaining about my bullpen and focus instead on complaining about second base.  Last week I lost Altuve (who wasn’t doing much, anyway) to injury, then got sniped on a waiver claim for Rocchio and ended up with (gulp) Semien.  My remaining second baseman now, other Semien, are Stott and Dubon.  Is Stott my best bet going forward? The “top” available free agents are Nasim Nunez and Nolan Gorman.

Ugg. I also have an injury-plagued team currently relying on Marcus Semien instead of Jose Altuve. Stott is your best bet of that group, by a lot. I know the batting average is a sink, but his total value hasn’t been horrible ($5-$6 player in 12-teamers)

Best case, I think you’re looking at a little above replacement-level value once he comes back…And you know how forgiving oblique injuries are, especially to the older folk. Cut bait, as needed.

I was offered Roki ($23), Schwellenbach ($15), and Chourio ($60) for Sale ($52) and McClanahan ($19) in 10 team keeper league (next year costs in parentheses), H2H 5x5 with OBP and QS. I am leading the league in QS, ERA, and WHIP; middle of the pack in K's; and near the bottom in HR and RBI. Chourio would be an improvement over Marsee (my only CF eligible player), but losing Sale and McClanahan is ~18 K's per week. My other SP are Strider, Skubal, Cole, Bradish, Fried, Lugo, Messick, Soroka, Henderson, and Prielipp. Is Chourio enough better than Marsee to make up the gap between Sale + McClanahan and Roki + 5-7 starts from Schwellenbach?

5x5 standard.  Of Braden Montgomery, Kaelen Culpepper, or Max Clark please rank these three in terms of expected MLB production for redraft leagues.  I was holding Max Clark but his last month has not been great from a fantasy perspective.

With the Royals playing like they did in 2023, it is probably time to be a seller. However, with Bubic on the DL, Ragans on the DL, Estevez on the DL, who do the Royals have that  would actually bring something in return?
