worth holding to see if the pumpkin transformation is a full or partial

Following up on my earlier question - realistic expectations for Blake Snell's return? He's floating out on the wire right now (not enough IL slots to go around for some folks) and thinking I might grab him and hold
Nicklaus Gaut
1:34
he's worth a lotto-tick pickup but I'd keep expectations far in check

Expectations for River Ryan this year. Thanks
Nicklaus Gaut
1:35
I think all River prognosications have to start with usage, not talent
1:36
he hasn't pitched a reasonable amount of innings in three years
but I definitely believe in the talent

Hi Nick,  Is this who Tork is likely to be for his entire career:  30+ HR followed by a ~18 HR?  No long term improvement?    Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
1:37
even I have given up on him being consistently good
1:38
but if you think that means I won't be buying tons of shares next year in anticipation of his bi-annual 30 HR outburt, you're forking crazy
Odd Years! Odd Years! Odd Years!

Thank you for the chat. Dynasty salary cap league: Give: Daylen Lile ($6), get Jackson Merrill ($5). Take?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:39
Yep, I'm taking it
not willing to totally tank Merrill yet
Outfield Options
1:40
What do you know about Tommy Troy?  I just added him in my fantasy league as an extra outfielder.  Right now I'm starting Duran, Nimmo, Walker, DeLauter & Bolt.  Where does Troy fit into that group?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:40
crazy contact and discipline
but super light on any pop
1:41
can be a useful compiler, but he'll need at least a little power uptick to provide consistent value
He'd be behind those other guys
1:42
but closet to Bolt

Hey, Nicklaus!  My team is a mess this year, so I'm retooling for 2027.  In an NL-only weekly 5x5 Roto league, do you agree with this priority order for who I'm targeting to acquire?  $1 Andy Pages, $1 Ivan Herrera, $4 Max Muncy, $8 JJ Wetherholt, $1 Thomas White, $1 Spencer Horwitz.
Nicklaus Gaut
1:42
Yes
but I'd bump J.J. to #2
i love that guy

Good afternoon Nicklaus.  Great to see you back here (it was a lonely week).  DO you think that Gage Jump or Rikuu Nishida have any potential value in a AL-only, 5x5, keeper league?  And, prior to this week, I would have considered dropping Colt Keith, but he appears to have turned things around … your take?  And, thanks for doing these chats.
Nicklaus Gaut
1:43
Good afternoon!
I don't have much interest in either Jump or Nishida
1:44
but Colt?
Yeah, he's built back enough to at least be interesting/rosterable
Logan Henderson update?
1:45
Was curious if you’ve heard whether Logan Henderson is just going to be out the standard number of days or of his back problem is something bigger? As much as I like him my roster is starting to feel the pinch and I’m weighing whether to hold onto him or drop him.
Nicklaus Gaut
1:46
They given very little info (surprise!) but I'd say minimum stay unless we get an update
I'd be holding him unless you're absolutely forced

If Aroldis goes to the Padres, who gets the ninth? Please trade him anywhere else, BoSox!

My nerdy (what you called it last season)  American-only League has an end-of-month draft which is the only time you can add or drop available players. Site articles on daily and even weekly pickups are pretty much meaningless to me. We have a very small one-man bench. I feel that ROS projections still weigh the past way to much while ignoring what is happening in the present world. The ZiPS and Steamer Updated numbers are all I see that really puts emphasis on current statistics. I believe last season you said that the mid-point of the season is when you should put major (or all) emphasis on current numbers. As we are now at the 3/8 mark, how do think think we should use ROS and YTD numbers? Actually, my person definition of YTD is 60 day (or maybe 45).
Nicklaus Gaut

nerdy as a compliment!
1:49
April/May is just so generally fickly that I'm using a mix of Ros/YTD
*still using
