Where did Jim Jarvis come from? Is he the real deal or the Braves still seek a SS in a trade?

Also what has to happen for J Baez to get some PT in ST Louis?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:57
I don't think they see him as a long-term answer, but I also don't think they'll be tripping over themselves to trade for an SS this year
1:58
great baseball name tho
1:59
for Baez, if he comes up sooner than 3-4 weeks, it'll be because of deadline trades

I have plenty of saves but need wins.  He has wins but needs saves... is Trevor Megill from me for Matthew Boyd fair?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:59
I declare this trade....
Fair!
though I'm much rather the Boyd side

Is Jordan Lawler and Marcelo Meyer the second comings of Royce Lewis as far as injuries hindering their development?  Not sure why neither can stay healthy and stay on the field.
Nicklaus Gaut
2:01
the more young injuries pile up, the more you have to cast a suspect eye on the future
IE not being able to stay on the field, generally doesn't lead right away to staying on the field
2:02
as many games as they play, death by a thousand cuts can come quickly

Just wanted to mention that I picked up Kuroda-Grauer the night before his, um, injury, and now I feel responsible.
Nicklaus Gaut
2:03
oh no!
it was you!
You should send him a card
Does Hallmark make a "sorry I busted your nut" card?

With all the discussion of bullpen arm pieces possibly being moved by the Mets, is there any interest in Devin Williams? Despite their stated preference of not eating money in contracts, which is absurd if the plan is to move Robert Jr as an example, shedding Williams and his two more years as opposed to one for Weaver seems like it would be a much better plan from the mistake prone David Stearns
Nicklaus Gaut
2:04
You just made the best case for why they won't do it
The Mets don't simply "choose the much better plan"
why do that when you can just Mets instead?

Is there any hope for Cubs catcher Ballesteros? He got sent down after slumping, is borderline unplayable at catcher or first base, and isn't hitting at Iowa much either. He fooled me. I thought he was MLB ready for sure.
Nicklaus Gaut
2:06
oh, still plenty of hope, for sure
but that swing has some fixing to do
2:07
or, at least, it needs to learn not to pound the ball into the ground when someone with sub-5% sprint speed is running behind it

What happened to Manzardo and will he still be the long-term starting 1B for Cleveland?
Nicklaus Gaut
2:07
I still think he's the long-term plan
2:08
the positive spin is that his hiccups were just the classic mlb tale of a young hitter pressing to hard to repeat previous power performances after the league adjusted to him
looked better lately though, and think Cleveland still views him as the long option

I’m about to get Acuña back, and I also have Langford, Ewing, Chourio, Yelich, Carroll, and H Hernandez in the 5 OF spots. I could use help at MI for this and next year (Bichette, Cole Young, X Edwards). Cheap Neto is available - is he worth Yelich? Both teams trying to compete, and I don’t plan to hold Yelich through the offseason.
Nicklaus Gaut
2:09
Definitely worth it - make the offer and keep fingers crossed for the accept

What’s up with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.? Is he hurt? His regression is staggering the imagination!
Nicklaus Gaut
2:10
to put it lightly, lol
2:11
I keep waiting for him to just wake up one morning and be like, "Oh yeah! I'm Vladimir freaking Guerrero Jr.!" and then just go out and rake
but, nope!
Every day he wakes up again and says, "I'm Ernie Clement"
actually, I take that back
2:12
we're insulting one of the world's last Ernies
2:13
how about, "Nop,e, I'm Ty France!
