plus, the Dodgers might be incredibly unmotivated to play him a ton

Hi,

Rick!
sweet relief

Do you think a follower (Pecko, maybe Bradford?) is a better source of innings during a week than a set-up arm? I need to do anything I can to bring down ratios. The risk is that, if they get a proper start, they have to stay on my bench.
Nicklaus Gaut
1:14
This is interesting and might depend on the math of what you can actually make up
1:16
IE: would 2-3 IP of (theoretically great) ratios from a setup move your needle as much as four innings of good but not elite ratios from Pecko
?
I wouldn't consider bradford btw
but, just looking at razzball projections, they have Pecko for +4 IP, with a 3.23 ERA and 1.18 WHIP
sweet relief

Once again, need a good reliever, but will settle for the best of these. Can you pick a fave or two? Jordan Hicks, AJ Blubaugh, Yennier Cano, Ryan Watson Tyler Holton, Luis de Leon, Wyatt Olds.
Nicklaus Gaut
1:18
Blubaugh is my fave
Watson next
then Cano/Hicks

Looks like it's already keeper season for me. help me pick3 (prefer 2 hitters and 1 pitcher) from these: Roman Anthony, Suzuki, Max Clark, w jenkins. pitchers: bradish, mize, j jones, painter. h2h league
Nicklaus Gaut
1:19
Clark and Painter for sure
1:20
I think I'd go Roman over Jenkins
my heart kind of wants to say Jenkins but Roman is the smarter dynasty fantasy move imo

Kody Clemens is having his best season ever. If he were on your team would you buy into him as a breakout or is it just a career season?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:22
I think it's a breakout in terms of him being a useful fantasy asset
but not as a higher tier asset
1:23
now, if he wasn't 30?
different story

Re: Seymour vs. Rasmussen - I could also start them both and instead sit Cole tonight @Arizona...
Nicklaus Gaut
1:23
oh then I'm sitting Cole!

After finishing 1st or 2nd every year for nearly a decade, I just finished a second straight season in the bottom third of my (H2H, redraft) league. Some of this was bad luck (particularly re: Aaron Judge’s ribcage), but it was mostly poor draft decisions that feel like they should have been obvious in retrospect (eg passing on Yordan late in round 2). How do you prep for a draft?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:24
my favorite topic
1:25
I believe the most important thing you can do in your draft prep, is turn your players into dollars
that, dollar values, according to your league settings
regardless of whether you're in an auction league, or not.
1:26
now, full disclosure: I run a draft prep service through RotoBaller, where I basically turn your league settting into dollar values, using ATC projection...so I am very biased about the dollar-making process
1:27
but putting that aside
1:28
the best thing you can do is find a projection set you trust, and turn them into dollar values, using the FanGraphs auction calculator, or any of the other sites that have their own processes
1:29
there is nuance in these, as I said, I'm biased - but just turning some "reasonable" projections into dollar values with YOUR league settings, makes it easier to compare "apples to apples" as it were
1:30
and it's not like you have to have to just trust the values blindly when your drafting
it's more about giving you proper frames of reference when comparing players with different offensive profiles against each other
1:31
it also lets you see "value cliffs" at each position, which makes it wa-aaay easier to make your decisions, with a better eye of what needs to be addressed with more urgency
okay, end of essay

Today I write to you off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and I cut Chase Burns last week... did I just pull a Goose by ejecting too early?
Nicklaus Gaut
1:32
nah, not neccessarily
1:33
he'll continue to be awesome but it's hard to assume he'll face more than a dozen batters at a time
