Thoughts on the Juan Uribe signing? What can we expect?
Steve Adams
3:11
Love it. Great clubhouse personality, still plays a solid defensive 3B, great clubhouse personality, can hit reasonably well, great clubhouse personality and he should also be really great in the clubhouse and with the media.
(Juan Uribe is one of the most entertaining human beings in baseball)

Joey Bats, Over/Under length 3.5 years? Total Value Over/Under $90M?
Steve Adams
3:13
Over on both for me, but I'm one of the more aggressive contract projectors you'll find. Sometimes that works great (Nick Markakis) and sometimes I look like a doofus (Hanley Ramirez). Such is life. I always assume the market is going to be more aggressive than common sense would indicate.

3:14
How about the Nats sign Desmond then trade him?
Steve Adams
3:14
Mike Rizzo has basically said he hasn't had any contact with Desmond's reps in more than a year. Nats could sign him and trade him this summer, but if you're talking a sign-and-trade, the league would intervene and say "no way" as it's too blatant a means of circumventing the qualifying offer and, thus, the CBA.

how long do you think Chapman's suspension will be ?
Steve Adams
3:17
There's no real way to put any sort of a guess on it. We're talking about three precedent-setting situations here. I wouldn't feel good about venturing any sort of expectation because I'd only be misleading you with a blind stab in the dark. I think anyone claiming to have a good sense of what's coming -- short of the absolute top reporters in the country -- would be doing the same.

3:17
How long does Chapman's suspension have to be to delay his FA by another year?
Steve Adams
3:18
That one, I can answer! I think it's 46 days but let me check quickly.
46 days and he falls one day short of six years of big league service and, thus, free agency.

A.J. Preller was on local sports radio in San Diego yesterday and confirmed the clubs high interest in Tim Lincecum and being one of the teams that watches him at his showcase later this month, chances San Diego signs him?
Steve Adams
3:21
The Padres will be one of 20 or so teams to watch him, and until teams actually see him throw, there's not much more than guesswork at play here. I don't like assigning arbitrary percentages to these types of things in the first place. If you were insistent on me doing so, I'd be boring and say to assume 20 teams will watch, give them all a 5% ish chance and then maybe adjust San Diego up to 10-15% since they seem to have more early interest than most.

Explain the Chapman FA thing in more detail - does he just go through arb again? Do you think NYY had this in mind with the trade?
Steve Adams
3:22
He'd go through arbitration again, yes. There's no limit to the amount of times that a player can go through arbitration. It's just that usually, if you're good enough to be tendered at the arb deadline three times (or four, in the case of Super Two players), you reach free agency on schedule.

Do the Gordon and Kennedy deals virtually guarantee that the Royals won't be able to keep guys like Hosmer and Cain?
Steve Adams
3:24
I think both are as good as gone -- or at least that both will test free agency. I know Jeff Passan reported that Cain wanted a six-year deal and the Royals balked at that. Doubt there was a huge discount at play there, though, and they were trying to re-sign Gordon at the time. Hosmer's a Boras guy and will be hitting free agency at a young age... tough to see the Royals paying top of market value for him in that setting.

How much would it take for the A's to extend Reddick?
Steve Adams
3:28
If I'm Reddick, I'm asking at least five years beyond this one. He's going to hit the market as a premium defender in right field with some platoon issues -- that's more or less an older version of Heyward, though Reddick's platoon splits are a bit more extreme. With a big enough walk season, Reddick stands out to me as possibly the most surprising free agent of next year in terms of salary. $80MM+ to lock him up in advance isn't outrageous and might end up quite a bit lighter than what he gets if he has a huge walk year.

Does Matt Murton Make the Cubs roster?
Steve Adams
3:28
Fun story that he signed there but seems like a long shot.
Michael
3:29
Will there be another chat Thursday? Think last weeks one never came about.
Steve Adams
3:29
Ah yeah Jeff is traveling. Sorry about that. If he's unable to, I'll see about tacking on an extra one myself, schedule permitting.
Ian Desmond
3:30
I'd love to go to the Rockies on the 1 year deal to re-establish myself. Does Reyes have to get suspended before that happens?
Steve Adams
3:30
A Reyes suspension would seemingly grease the wheels on that line of thinking, yeah -- especially if it's a lengthy one. I like the fit, though.
Twin Cities
3:30
Favorite Twin Cities restaurant?
Steve Adams
3:32
Impossible to choose! Such a broad question. Blue Door for burgers, Roat Osha for Thai, Quang for Pho, either of the Porterhouse locations are great for steaks, Firelake is a nice place downtown Minneapolis for steaks, Tratorria da Vinci in St. Paul has great Italian... really nice food scene there and those are just a few off the top of my head without thinking too heavily.

Reds 82 wins over or under ?
Steve Adams
3:32
I might take the under if you set this at 62.5 wins.
Chris
3:33
Maybe I'm cynical, but do you think the Os use the 'stringent medical review' as a way to back out of deals once theyve seen the public / professional reaction to deals they make?
Steve Adams
3:34
There was plenty of public reaction to the Gallardo/O's connection long before they agreed to terms. You're being too cynical. Plus, look what happened last time one of their deals fell through due to medical concerns. Grant Balfour's career completely imploded.
Tilia! Minneapolis! So many good ones. Pizzeria Lola! Augh! Im hungry.
Bob
3:35
Will Chris Denorfia have to settle for a minor league deal?
Steve Adams
3:35
At this point that seems likely yeah.
JSix
3:36
Do you think Got to was part of the Reds three team trade? Toronto is his hometown, Bruce is one of his close teammates and team is gonna suck for a while.
Steve Adams
3:36
Assuming "Got to" = the autocorrect version of "Votto," no way do I think the trade was that expansive.
Steve Adams
3:36
I MOVE AWAY AND EVERYTHING TURNS TO DUST.
JD
3:37
Do I wish now that I wouldn't have traded for Josh Hamilton last year?
