I don't think hindsight is/was required to say that. Trading five pitchers -- including Appel and Velasquez -- for a reliever was a staggering price to pay even at the time the deal was made.

Valaquez career high in innings is 125 2 years ago, what's his limit around this year? 140? Would they move him to the bullpen eventually to keep him going the full season?

I haven't seen any reports on his innings limit, but I'm sure he'll have one given his injury history and lack of innings. Health concern was the reason the Astros were comfortable moving him, I'm sure.
