I don't really consider Braun a great fit for the Dodgers anyway. They have tons of in-house outfield options. Really, they're in a weird spot when it comes to trades simply because they're either set with expensive veterans at most positions or have tons of young bats at others (some of whom are underperfoming). Upgrading at third might make the most sense, but Justin Turner has been really good until this season. I'd still pick that spot, I suppose, with Valencia as one target. Could also try for Cozart and then slide Seager over to 3B.

Other than Plouffe, do the Twins have any trade bait? Would Grossman or Kepler be available?

Grossman was available to the entire league like a month ago. Twins signed him on a minor league deal. I'm sure he's available, but I doubt anyone's going to give up too much for him -- recent hot streak notwithstanding. Can't see them trading Kepler. Suzuki and Jepsen aren't performing well, but I can see Abad fetching a decent piece. He's been genuinely dominant and is only controlled through 2017. Nunez, similarly. Playing really well, controlled only through '17.

I wouldn't do it, no, but depends how concerned they are about his knee. Plus as good as he looked, he's played what? 75 games in the Majors (including playoffs)? And he doesn't really have a defensive home. Cubs fans would've been aghast at trading Jorge Soler after his first 50-70 games as well, and now I get asked constantly if he's a bust and still has any value, etc.

I read a on MLBTR that the braves would like similar talent and similar age in a Teheran trade. Yasiel was pegged as a possible target. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, but is that a realistic trade?

Puig was mentioned as one speculative piece, but Teheran's value is considerably higher right now. Dodgers would need to add more. And again, I don't really think there's any rush to move Teheran. I'm of the mind they should keep him.

Not really. Kansas City's farm system isn't all that highly regarded these days and they won the whole thing last year

Having a deep farm helps, of course -- Manaea was a big piece to get Zobrist -- but they had a really good product on the field from the get-go and hit on a lot of offseason signings.

Are the playoffs really just a crapshoot?

There's a huge degree of variance, and I do think any team can beat any other club in a five- or seven-game series, but there are certain elements that steer it away from being a total crapshoot. Having a deep, dominant bullpen, for instance. Playoff series are scheduled so a reliever would virtually never have to pitch more than three in a row (or even more than two in a row) without a day off. A good team can realistically double the usage of its top two relievers or so in the short series, know there's extra rest built in, and really make it difficult on an opposing lineup (e.g. Davis, Herrera, Holland, Madson 2014-15 KC)

Matt Kemp is, by all regards, awful. Yet somehow he is a top 100 fantasy baseball option, and borderline top 10 fantasy outfielder. Do you play fantasy baseball and how do you deal with the disparity between real life and a fictional game?

I love fantasy. But it's a different game entirely, and there are plenty of guys that are good fantasy players but poor real-life players. Fantasy is based on outcomes, baseball is based on skills. RBIs aren't really a skill, they're just an outcome of putting a hitter in a certain situation, and good hitters will rack them up more than bad ones. Just a different way of looking at things.

He's not really performing at Triple-A right now. If he were throwing well I think he'd already be in there. I thought he'd be their five starter for most of the season... Michael Fulmer has informed me otherwise.
