Unless Strasburg is set to miss a significant period of time, where do they put Giolito? You could try to flip Gio Gonzalez for some current MLB help, but beyond that, there's nowhere to put him with Roark pitching so well (unexpectedly so, in my eyes). Hader is the likelier of the two for me.

They'd have to take on quite a bit of it, as he's going to see his $25MM option for next season vest. Even then, I think that'd be the requirement just to move him. I can't see a team paying a decent chunk of his salary AND giving up something good to get him -- 2.20 ERA or whatever it is at right now notwithstanding.

When we did our Free Agent Rankings we talked to some execs that felt he could still get five years somewhere coming off last season (said execs didn't have a need at shortstop, clearly, ha). He's getting a four-year deal, minimum, in my eyes. $60MM+. I know Tim Dierkes isn't quite as bullish on him as me yet (or he wasn't at the last edition of our FA Power Rankings anyway)

This one feels far less arbitrary than that -- I like that the teams have more control over the compensation process here. But, they're both wildly flawed systems. The QO system doesn't foster the competitive balance as it was intended to. In fact, I'd contend it's done the opposite.

Weirdly, I actually like his chances better this season than I would've last year when he was striking out in a third of his plate appearances. He's had some really bad luck this season despite making significant improvements in terms of his strikeout rate, contact rate, etc.

What do you figure is the magic innings number that moves Sanchez to the bullpen?

I think they'll keep him in the rotation through late July, probably using the All-Star break as a mechanism to limit his innings before shifting him to the 'pen. If they have a set number, they haven't tipped their hand, but I can't imagine they want him throwing many more than 150 innings after barely reaching 100 last season.

Adding some kind of left-handed reliever. Doesn't necessarily need to be Chapman or Miller -- I could see them interested in Will Smith, Fernando Abad, Sean Doolittle... though Smith and Doolittle are controllable enough/cheap enough that the asks would be pretty high there as well.

I'll be stunned if he doesn't. Even if he wants to stay with the Mets, he can get them to pony up on a better deal now with the benefit of more market competition.

I think they should, but my colleague Jeff Todd pointed out that they're probably going to aim to contend in 2017 anyway, and most of their chips are around for that season. Salas and Smith are two guys that could get moved that are FAs at season's end that I can see going.

At this point, Stanton money would be in the conversation, yeah. If Machado reaches free agency and is still this caliber of player, I'd expect him to clear 300 and also include opt-out clauses.
