Sanford?
Marc

Will we see more 1 year "prove yourself" deals this offseason because of opt outs and players not maximizing earning potential?
Connor Byrne
4:35
It's very possible. We have a good amount of guys getting one-year contracts, especially in light of the pandemic.
Chris
4:35
People keep saying Gary is a nontender candidate but I dont see it.  And I think he has more than zero trade value, there's plenty of second division teams that would live with defensive shortcomings for a C who can hit 35 bombs and is relatively inexpensive.
Connor Byrne
4:36
I can't see Gary Sanchez as a non-tender candidate, either. Look at the FA market for catchers. You have Realmuto, then a big drop-off before McCann, and then not much else. Sanchez would have value in a trade. He's affordable and only a year removed from a good offensive season.

Will the Giants trade Yastrzemski this offseason?
Connor Byrne
4:37
I highly doubt it.
Jeremy
4:37
Who are some of the best players you could see being non-tendered?
Connor Byrne
4:38
Was just talking about this with Tim and Steve. Apparently there's word that the A's could non-tender Mark Canha, which seems insane to me. He has been one of the game's most productive outfielders since 2019 & doesn't make a bank-breaking salary.
Gary Sanchez
4:39
Would I be a good fit for the Phillies?  Joe knows me.
Connor Byrne
4:40
That's not a bad idea if the Phils lose JTR, don't sign McCann and the Yankees get one of those two

4:40
will boston spend big? springer as a replacement for betts?
Connor Byrne
4:40
No to both questions
Al
4:41
Where do you see Puig in 2021?
Connor Byrne
4:41
No one knows. I don't think there has been anything said about Puig since he contracted coronavirus a couple months back. Could see him as a very appealing buy-low guy if he's healthy, though.
Piertotum Locomotor
4:42
Who gets the most money this offseason?
Connor Byrne
4:42
On an annual basis, Bauer, but it's anyone's guess whether he wants a long- or short-term deal. If he takes a short deal, Realmuto or Springer in terms of total money.

4:43
Is Lester a Cub next season?
Connor Byrne
4:44
MLBTR thinks so as of now (albeit on a cheaper deal than his option). If not, a team like the Braves would make sense. You plug in a savvy, innings-eating vet behind Fried, Soroka and Anderson. And Lester lives in Atlanta.

Does the suspension lower the asking price of Hinch?
Connor Byrne
4:46
It doesn't do him any favors.
Feury
4:46
Brewers make sense for DJL no? He'd probably play 1st regulalrly with Gyorko at 3rd? Does Hader get moved, finally?
Connor Byrne
4:46
They're not going to spend that type of money on LeMahieu. He's out of their range.
Desi Relaford
4:47
Do the Pirates have anything going to be excited for?
Connor Byrne
4:47
At least Ke'Bryan Hayes is on the team
4:48
1.7 fWAR in 95 plate appearances. That's absurd.
JBJ2021
4:48
Which team do you see JBJ going with if Boston isn’t willing to give him QO or new contract.
Connor Byrne
4:48
We have Jackie Bradley Jr. going to Houston as of now.
Tyler
4:49
Who do you think the Red Sox target in the off-season? Names and positions please
Connor Byrne
4:50
Pitchers. They could conceivably add some innings-eating type (Jose Quintana?) and/or buy low on a reclamation project (Robbie Ray?). They're also in clear need of bullpen help, and there are tons of guys they could look to there.
Also need to do something about second base
4:51
I don't expect a very aggressive winter for them, though
Lee in YYZ
4:51
Hey Connor, great work..do you see Toronto actually signing an impact name free agent?
Connor Byrne
4:52
Thanks! Not sure if I see it happening, but I do believe they'll be in on some big names. Bauer, Gausman, LeMahieu, Springer would all fit the team, and I expect Toronto to at least kick the tires on that class. They also had a lot of interest in Odorizzi a year ago, so that's another possibility.
4:53
*Not sure if I see a signing happening* is what I should have said. GM Ross Atkins has suggested they'll be active, though

realmuto accepts QO IMO
Connor Byrne
4:53
No way. Best position player on the market.
CJ
4:55
Do you think Phillies sign Realmuto, or get pitching help?
Connor Byrne
4:56
Let's stick with Realmuto. I don't think he'll stay a Phillie, but the bullpen should be a huge priority either way.

If not Bauer (I think he ends up with Dodgers) is Marcus Stroman a decent option?
