He should. I was surprised the Yankees canned Rothschild, their longtime pitching coach, as if it was his fault they dealt w/ one injury after another this season. The Phillies are logical fits now that Girardi's their manager.

I haven't heard/read anything suggesting Wood will stay with the Reds. They really only need a back-end starter; if they can get him for cheap enough, it would make sense. However, I could see some team giving him 5-10MM, which could be out of the Reds' range considering their other needs.

I don't think it's nuts. He has two years' control left, is getting more expensive and won't be signing an extension.
That said, you can't call him "available" at this point. Just speculation at the moment.
