Now that the World Series has been decided, we're officially into the offseason, and the roster moves are already coming fast and furious.  Plenty to chat about...

What do you expect Conforto/Syndergaard to do?
Mark P
8:55
Conforto will turn it down, Syndergaard I'd guess would slightly lean towards accepting, but maybe only in 55-45 fashion.

When can we expect your annual free agency predictions to be posted?
Mark P
8:56
They're coming within the next few days, I believe on Monday, barring any late delays.

Who plays second and third for the Jays next year? Where do you hide Gurriel defensively?
Mark P
8:58
That's Gold Glove nominee Lourdes Gurriel, to be fair.

(Though I've rarely seen a player with such wide splits in opinion on his glovework, depending on which defensive metric you look at.)

The Biggio/Espinal platoon will likely cover one of the two infield positions, so the Jays have some flexibility in pursuing either a second baseman or a third baseman.

Do the Yankees redo their team?
Mark P
9:00
I doubt we'll see a truly huge overhaul, since I genuinely think Brian Cashman and company feel they aren't far away.  Now, we could see players like Frazier, Andujar, or spare parts-ish types of players go, but I doubt we'll see many (or any?) truly big cuts
Like Sanchez, for instance, I tend to think might return in 2022
Free agency

Baez and Bryant wouldn’t cost a draft pick right? If so, does that make them more desirable to sign then the other big names?
Mark P
9:01
Correct.  Since they were dealt midseason, they aren't eligible for the qualifying offer.
That notwithstanding, evaluators tend to have Baez ranked fifth among the "big five" shortstops, draft pick or no draft pick.

Could the Braves re-sign Freddie and be in play for one of the big SS upgrades?
Mark P
9:03
I do think Freeman will re-sign, but that doesn't leave much money available for the kind of big contract required for a major free agent SS.

Braves fans also are maybe a little too critical towards Swanson, in my view.  He's inconsistent but generally pretty solid.
If anything, Swanson is a little underrated because I think people expect superstardom from any first overall pick

With money and prospects, do you expect the Mariners to go more free agents or trades this offseason?
Mark P
9:04
I lean towards trades, just because that's Jerry Dipoto's preferred method of roster-building.  That doesn't mean Seattle won't or couldn't sign a big FA now that they have some real money to spend, however.

Does signing Mark Canha make sense for us? Can we contend this year?
Mark P
9:05
He'd make a ton of sense, and would fit nicely into their corner outfield.  The question as always with Cleveland, however, is how much they're willing to spend.  Canha shouldn't be prohibitively expensive but he'll still net a solid multi-year deal, so it remains to be seen if even that in the Guardians' price rang

Landing spot for Joc? Wanna know who the next champ will be.
Mark P

Imagine if a team reunited Joc and Terrance Gore on their roster?  I feel like the Orioles could do this, and suddenly they'd be WS contenders

Crane's reported offer to Correa today clearly won't cut it. If Crane offers 7 years / $250 million, would that at least change Correa's reply from "heck no" to "no thanks"?
Mark P
9:07
$250MM would seem like the bare minimum of what Correa might accept, you're right.

Semien was drafted by the CWS twice and they have an obvious need there. Why does a reunion not make sense?
Mark P
9:09
It makes sense on paper, it's just a question as to whether Semien has interest in a return, if he's willing to play second base instead of going back to shortstop and (most of all) how much more the White Sox are willing to spend on payroll

How embarrassed should the Reds be right now over the Miley situation?
Mark P
9:11
I dunno, I thought Wrecking Ball was a pretty good song.

....oh wait, you meant Wade Miley.  It's a tough loss for the Reds, and the front office obviously hates losing him for nothing but salary relief.
Good move by the Cubs to pounce quickly, and it's also kind of interesting that the Reds couldn't find a trade for Miley.  I wonder if some interested teams were holding back and seeing if they could get Miley to fall to them on the waiver wire.

If a team offers a Q.O. to a player and that player rejects the offer, is that team able to offer again? Is the Q.O. just a formality sometimes so that team will get a compensation draft pick?
Mark P
9:13
A player can only be issued one qualifying offer in their career.
And yeah, it's essentially a formality, but it puts a bit more choice to the decision rather than the old "Type A/Type B" free agent system

Many of the players from Oakland are expected to be traded, but Manaea seems like a weird one? How likely is it he gets traded, and who has the suitable price to get him?
