Hey everyone. Welcome to the last Monday chat of 2019. We'll get going soon.

Alex Wood is the angels next target?
Connor Byrne
6:08
I like Wood as a buy-low target for a lot of teams, but the Angels need more of a sure thing at this point. Problem is that I don't know how they're going to get one, with free-agent choices dwindling and the Tigers continuing to hold out for a massive return for Matt Boyd. Guess the Angels could pursue Robbie Ray, but who's to say he's going anywhere? And someone like Chris Archer doesn't inspire that much confidence right now.

Hey Connor, do you see Donaldson getting a contract worth over $100m
Connor Byrne
6:10
I'd have thought something in the 70-80 range entering free agency, but now something around 90 seems like a legit possibility. A hundred still seems too high to me, but then again, most high-profile FAs have done better than expected this winter.
J. Dipoto
6:10
I've been quiet this off season. What do you think is my next move?
Connor Byrne
6:11
Well, Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto, you did trade a solid starting catcher in Omar Narvaez. Next? I'm sure you'd love to deal 3B Kyle Seager, but his market's held up by Donaldson's ongoing free agency and the uncertainty surrounding Kris Bryant. Hard to expect big-time 3B trades before we found how Bryant's service-time grievance goes.

I think mets are done shopping this winter. Maybe they get a backup catcher. I think brodie learned his lesson with trade last year. What say you?
Connor Byrne
6:12
Not sure I'd say that. The Mets could still use a surefire CFer, and they continue to be connected to Starling Marte.

6:12
Why hasn't anyone signed Will Harris or traded for Ken Giles?
Connor Byrne
6:13
The relative silence around Harris has been pretty odd. I think only the Twins have been mentioned with him in rumors. Giles I thought would be dealt this winter (and still lean that way), but maybe Toronto will keep him in hopes of making a surprise wild-card run. They can always try to trade him at the deadline (if healthy) should that fail. But the Jays would be taking a risk there, as Giles' injury last summer killed his trade value.

Do the Athletics make sense for Scooter ?
Connor Byrne
6:14
Wouldn't surprise me if they were to sign Gennett. They seem to want a lefty-hitting 2B, and he fits the bill for cheap.

Do you like Andujar or Urshela for 3B next year? The next? The one after that?
Connor Byrne
6:16
Andujar has higher upside over the long haul, but short term, he may be at a disadvantage having minor league options. Urshela does not, and after the year he had, the Yanks will probably want to give him a chance to start again. If so, depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out, Andujar could begin in the minors - if he's not traded, that is.

JBJ and Workman for Nimmo
Connor Byrne

Not enough for Nimmo
Twins fan
6:17
Would the twins meet the tigers ridiculous price for Boyd in desperation? They need a decent pitcher and he seems like the only option
Connor Byrne
6:17
Twins management doesn't strike me as the type that would panic. This hasn't been a great offseason, but to me, they still look like the favorites in that division. We'll see what happens with Donaldson.
Mariner Blue
6:18
Is there a taker for Dee Gordon?
Connor Byrne
6:18
I don't expect it as of now. There are plenty of other similarly valuable/better 2B in free agency at the moment.
Reds

I feel like everyone has forgotten about Senzel. Before a big stance change brought on by Turner Ward Senzel had around an .800 OPS playing solid centerfield in his first season ever playing it. He has a lot more value than people seem to think do you agree?
Connor Byrne
6:20
That's kind of how it goes. When a highly touted prospect comes up and doesn't set the world on fire right away, many label him a disappointment. It's not fair, and I agree that Senzel still has a ton of promise. And he was still pretty new to CF last season, let's not forget.

Why didnt yankees resign dellin?
Connor Byrne
6:21
I wondered the same last offseason when they let David Robertson walk, and that turned out OK for NYY. In Betances' case, maybe they weren't convinced he could bounce back as a 31-year-old off an injury-wrecked season. Or maybe there was still lingering tension from Betances' arbitration dispute with the team a couple years back.

Which highly paid FA do you think will be the biggest bust?
Connor Byrne
6:22
I'm not in love with the Keuchel signing

6:23
Forget the Angels Alex Wood a Philly?
Connor Byrne
6:23
Reasonable enough. Pretty sure the Phillies have shown interest in Wood on multiple occasions over the past year or so.
Mil B
6:24
Dickerson at less than $9 mil/per or Castellanos at $15-$17 mil/per? Who you got?
Connor Byrne
6:25
I think Dickerson's pretty underrated. There's not that big a difference between him and Castellanos offensively, and it's not as if Casty's some world-beater on defense. So, if you want Dickerson for 2/17 over Castellanos for, say, 4/60, I don't think that's crazy.
Dbacks
6:25
Who do you think the next target is for the Diamondbacks now that Shogo went to the Reds?? Trade for Starling Marte??
Connor Byrne
6:26
I very much like the idea of trading for Starling and putting Ketel at 2B. Marte party!
Jays Fan
6:26
Does Ryu live up to the hype?
Connor Byrne
6:27
A 33-yr-old with an injury history? I'm skeptical, but either way, I like that Toronto's making a real effort to win.

6:27
Who closes for the Mets?  Edwin's leash feels awfully short.
Connor Byrne
6:28
I'm sure it'll be Diaz to start, but if he falters again, Betances, Familia and Wilson are all viable candidates.

What.... No love for Eric Thames ??  Would of been a better buy for the Pale Hose than Encarnacion, third of the price with almost the same results..  !!   Where does he end up??
Connor Byrne
6:28
I'm a fan of Thames as a buy-low candidate. The Rangers look like  a fit to me. I'd much rather ride with Thames than Guzman.
