Plenty to discuss after a wild week of playoff baseball, and some more craziness could still happen in this Guardians/Yankees series.  Let's get to some questions....
Will
8:03
Who’s the next manager for the Texas Rangers?
Mark P
8:04
The feeling seems to be that it's Bruce Bochy's job to lose.
Unless Chris Young's meeting with Bruce Bochy was them talking things over, and either party deciding it wasn't a good fit
Clayton Kershaw
8:04
Am I a LIFETIME Dodger?
Mark P
8:04
Yes
Will Smith
8:05
Did my new baby and the Goose jinx us?
Mark P
8:05
Man, 2022 has been a real up-and-down year for people named Will Smith
Tim
8:05
what do you see the Red Sox most likely doing this offseason?
Mark P
8:06
Well, for a couple thousand words on the subject....

I think Joey Gallo is the veteran presence needed on a lot of teams, but I think the Detroit Tigers need him the most. They need to hit home runs and score runs. Gallo does that. Although he does strike out a ton, I think it will fix one of the many problems that Detroit faces. Do you agree?
Mark P
8:08
Detroit definitely needs offense, but Gallo coming off a rough year isn't the best choice to provide that needed pop.  The large dimensions of Comerica could also stifle Gallo's homer run power

Adley more likely than not extended this offseason? Gunnar next offseason?
Mark P
8:10
I would tend to think the O's will at least try to lock either of them up, if they haven't had talks already.

It isn't yet clear how Mike Elias will approach things this is the first time we've seen him outside of pure "rebuild" mode, yet Elias came from an Astros organization that put a priority on trying to extend young stars early.

Blue Jays sign Nimmo and move Springer to the corner OF?
Mark P
8:11
Nimmo's injury history is a concern, yet as a left-handed hitting center fielder, he is a great fit on paper for Toronto's needs.  Such a signing would require one of Hernandez or Gurriel to be traded, but that might be in the cards anyway.
Mets fans
8:12
Do you think if Mets had not been cowards and traded prospects at the deadline for upgrades example: contreras
Mark P
8:13
"Cowards" is a real stretch.  There's enough randomness involved in the playoffs that the Mets might've also been eliminated by now even with Contreras or another notable name on the roster.

And then the reaction wouldn't have been "hey, good for the Mets for going for it," it would've been "wow, the Mets really screwed up in dealing a good prospect for a rental player."
Angel wings
8:14
With ownership looking to sell the team do you think they will trade some of the bigger contracts like Trout or Rendon so the new owner can start with a clean slate?
Mark P
8:16
I doubt Trout or Ohtani would be moved, and while I'm sure the Angels would be open to moving Rendon at this point, it's hard to imagine such a trade coming together (without the Angels eating a bunch of money) given his recent health history.

From a team-selling perspective, one might also imagine that offering a club with a Trout or Ohtani makes the Angels more attractive to a buyer

8:16
Who do we blame.  Roberts, bullpen, hitters not hitting with runners in SP
Mark P
8:17
All of the above, really, but most of the blame has to be on the Dodgers' lineup inexplicably going ice-cold with RISP.
William Ashley
8:18
What kind of upside does Vinnie Pasquantino have?  Could be be similar to Jose Abreu in the future?
Mark P
8:19
I hesitate to make such a big comp, since players who can produce like Abreu don't come around too often.  If Pasquantino is "only" two-thirds of Abreu, or something, the Royals would be pretty happy with that outcome
Not to say that Pasquantino doesn't have a lot of potential.  He's a real bright spot for KC going forward.

8:20
What kind of serious market could we expect for Corbin Burnes?
Mark P
8:21
The Brewers probably get plenty of calls about Burnes, but I'd still be pretty surprised if they moved him unless the team a) gets a monster offer, or b) they maybe shift into a reload mode for 2024 instead of trying to win in 2023

8:23
Will we see Pete Crow-Armstong (THANKS METS!!!) in centerfield next year or does he need another year in the minors?
Mark P
8:24
Brennen Davis seems like the safer bet to see some CF time next season.  PCA has yet to play even in Double-A ball, so he probably isn't a factor in the big leagues until 2024

8:24
How good of fit is bellinger on jays. Even without his bat?
Mark P
8:25
If Bellinger still isn't hitting, he doesn't bring much different to the Jays roster than, say Jackie Bradley did last year
Tim
8:26
Do dbacks keep Christian Walker or trade him?  Will the team be a contender in the two years of control?  I think they should sell high on him.
Mark P
8:26
I suspect they'll keep him.  The D'Backs have enough good young talent that they might be quietly thinking they can be competitive in 2023, if a couple of the young outfielders break out, they get good health, and the bullpen isn't a mess again.

8:28
Does Harris make any major moves in his first off-season with the Tigers, or do you think he waits a year to analyze and see what pitchers return from injury?
Mark P
8:29
Probably makes more sense to wait, but in theory, adding a bat to a multi-year contract makes sense since the Tigers know they need offense now and in the future
Iverbure
8:31
Kirk to brewers for woodruff jays. Who says no?
Mark P
8:32
Not sure it works as a totally straight 1-for-1, since Woodruff only has two years of control and Kirk has four.  But these as the two principles in a larger multi-player trade makes sense for both clubs.

8:33
Where do you stand on team social media sites trolling their competitor. Feels like the Astros social media team are taking things beyond fun, but also they won
Mark P
8:34
Since people have been dunking on the Astros on social media for three years, can't blame them for firing back with some barbs of their own

(I almost wrote "firing back with some trash talk")

Is Danby coming back? If not is it Grissom? Or Mr outside hire?
