Whoa, the trade deadline is pretty close! Second to last chat (with me, anyway) before August 1.
We'll let the millions of loyal chat participants from around the world gather up, then get rolling in a minute or two.
Andrew Miller

Should I start packing my bags?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
Shouldn't be a big deal, you travel a lot for work anyway.
But no, not just yet. The latest rumblings have been more in the direction of Chapman. It's still virtually impossible to know which way the Yanks go with this, and both could be dealt, but it's still plenty reasonable to think they keep Miller.
Hunter
3:31
Will Sonny Gray be dealt?
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
I'll take the "no" side on that bet.
Gogerty
3:32
Harsh comments lately as we get close to deadline.
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
The readers are getting antsy with an extra day to wait for the deadline this year. Let's keep it civil out there, folks.

There's really no excuse for the Yankees not to fire-sale right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:33
Well, playoff contention is hardly impossible. Pretty unlikely, particularly when you consult the expectations of their current roster's performance, but this is the Yankees we are talking about. They could say "screw it" and keep pushing, and still drop loads of cash over the winter.
But they should probably make at least a few targeted sales, yeah.
Matt
3:33
What kind of return could the Rays get for Archer?
Jeffrey Todd
3:34
It'll have to be a good one. He's still showing most of the skills that made him so valuable in the first place, and the contract is still there.
3:35
I think the struggles, and the team's extra arms, push it from "no way" to "sure, we'll consider an equal-value swap." Doesn't mean they'll discount the price, though.

Is Christian Arroyo available in trade talks for a reliever this trade deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
3:35
Don't think you need to give up that much prospect capital for a reliever. But maybe that's the kind of piece needed to land Miller, if they really want him.
I'll guess no, though.
Jack
3:35
Any chance the phillies move Odubel?
Jeffrey Todd
3:35
Not really.
Jack
3:36
Who gets the call up first Thompson, Williams, or Crawford?
Jeffrey Todd
3:36
Thompson has been aces of late, seems ready for a little MLB exposure.
Eli
3:36
Bregman beats Gurriel to the majors, right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:36
Close. Maybe they even join the roster within close proximity as part of the same sort of shake-up.
3:37
Realistically, though, HOU could wait until rosters expand.
Eric
3:37
Who would you consider a serious target for the orioles at the trade deadline and what do they offer to get those players?
Jeffrey Todd
3:38
Jorge De La Rosa? I really don't know how they are going to go bigger than a serviceable starter, esp with the Harvey news.

3:38
Eerily quite on Braves front, any chance that changes?
Jeffrey Todd
3:38
Expect a few minor deals. Most of their moves have been made. Only wild card is Teheran, really, because Freeman isn't going anywhere and Nick Markakis wouldn't be any kind of major trade.
Bryan P
3:39
Any chance Chris Sale really gets moved?
Jeffrey Todd
3:40
We aren't hearing any suggestion that he's one of the players that will be considered. I'm guessing he's part of the core group they still want to build around. But really short-term veterans (pending FAs or guys with only another year to go) might be put up on the sales shelf.
Richie
3:40
Robertson to the Cardinals any possibility? Or any other relievers?
Jeffrey Todd
3:41
They definitely seem focused on relievers, and I don't see why they couldn't go ahead and target a really good one. Viewing Robertson as an entrant on the market changes things up on the pen side.
Josh
3:41
Lucroy not in the Brewers lineup tonight... Hug watch time?
Jeffrey Todd
3:42
Well, if that's truly a reflection of a move, he probably won't be in the dugout. Maybe someone can sneak into the clubhouse and see if he's giving out bear hugs.
Shay
3:42
What can the Rockies expect back in a Boone Logan trade? See him packaged with someone else or traded by himself?
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
Not anything worth getting really excited over. Don't see why he'd be particularly likely to be packaged. Mostly just another reliever, and not a cheap one in terms of salary. He's been good, don't get me wrong, but has some injury baggage too.
Shay
3:43
Is Rizzo just saving leverage on a Blackmon deal by saying he's not interested?
Jeffrey Todd
3:44
I don't know ... he said the report wasn't accurate, which could mean some minor aspect of it wasn't true but there's really interest there. I guess I'd be a bit surprised if he was just straight up lying, because he could always have just deflected the question.

What kind of return would Cruz bring?
