Hey all. I'm going to go get some water while you hit me with some burning questions. Need to stay hydrated while delivering my smoking hot takes.
Trea Turner

Have I cemented myself as the everyday lead off guy for the nats?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Well there was a time not so long ago where you might have asked this about Michael Conforto and the Mets' 3-hole. But yeah, more or less.
Kyle
2:08
Should Braves upgrade at catcher or go with Rocker and Flowers and save the money?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Upgrade. Though they may want to look at a rebound candidate rather than beating the market for Ramos.
Terry Collins
2:09
What will it take for me to get fired?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
I just don't see the logic of doing that at this point. He did take the team to the WS last year. Now, after the season .... we'll see.
2:10
Actually I think he said this was his last year anyway. Shades of Davey Johnson's end with the Nats.

Twins free agent targets this off season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
This is way too broad to answer at this point, but generally, I'm not sure they will be that active. I'm guessing you're going to be looking at a couple of buy-low veteran types.

What's wrong with Matt Moore looks like Johnathan Sanchez 2.0 :/
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I got in an argument with someone in the comments before the deadline over whether Moore had been consistently good of late. My argument was: no, he hadn't, despite a nice run of starts, and there's still a lot of uncertainty.
2:12
But Sanchez v2 shouldn't be the expectation either.
Justin
2:12
What's a reasonable return for Brian McCann, prospect-wise?
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
All depends on the $$$. Suppose the Yanks and hypothetical acquiring team agree that he is worth $X per year (which will be less than his current salary). If New York wants more than filler prospects, it will need to essentially buy them by paying down more salary.

Hey Jeff, just wondering if you have any insight/hunch on where Joakim Soria may end up? Hasn't performed anywhere near what hes making, but are any teams willing to take a flyer on a guy who could possibly get some big outs late in the season/post season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Hard to guess on pen arms b/c in theory just about any team can add one. But Soria will be tough to trade -- he's getting K's, but there's a lot of bucks left on that deal and he is 32.
Rob S
2:15
Arodys Vizcaino a trade candidate now that he is off the DL?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Not really -- he'd be claimed on waivers. Theoretically possible a deal would still happen, but quite unlikely.
Adam
2:16
If a player is not on a 40-man roster (i.e., a prospect), does he also have to clear waivers to be included in a deal? Could the Royals attach a prospect to Soria to help get him out of town?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Non-40-man guys do not need to clear waivers.
Stephen

Jeff - are the O's going to be active on August wire? Seems like they need a lefty bat AND arm.
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
I don't know that they are any more likely than any other contender to get something done. There's so much variability in August -- does the player clear or get claimed? Are the O's tapped out in cash and prospect capital?
But they have to be looking -- going to be tough to keep up in the division and the WC is quite competitive as well.

What are your thoughts on the Rockies OF jam? Who stays and who goes in 2017 among Blackmon, CarGo, Parra, Dahl, and Tapia?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
I refuse to prognosticate on that organization, but I wonder if the time has passed to get a great return for CarGo and even Blackmon. The one thing this FA market has is bats and outfielders.
Mr Burns
2:19
Who's my starting 9 if I need a team of modern-day ringers for the plant's softball team?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
Okay going to try this off the top of my head ...
2:20
Kershaw-Posey battery ... Rizzo/Altuve/Seager/Machado around the horn.
2:21
And I'll take Harper/Trout .... oh no who is my 3rd outfielder?!
Hit me with some suggestions ...

2:21
Hey Jeff. Which shortstop has a better career after it's all said and done: Lindor, Correa, Bogaerts, Corey Seager, or Story?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Guess I just answered this in some way. Really hard to pick, though, but I don't think I'd quite put Story with the others just yet.

About the Diamondbacks stadium situation, If Maricopa County sells the stadium to private investors then do the Dbacks still have to honor their lease agreement?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Depends upon the terms of the deal, which I don't know. But generally, the whole undertaking kind of disgusts me, I can't lie.
