Since the Cards have a lot of rotation holes to fill next winter, a position player-for-pitcher trade seems quite possible
Bubba
9:53
Does Aaron Nola reach free agency after the season, or does he get extended?
Mark P
9:53
Leaning slightly towards an extension, if for no other reason than the Phillies and Nola have both sounded positive about talks thus far.
Mike
9:54
Chances Yankees trade Gleyber to open up the middle infield for both Peraza and Volpe ?
Mark P
9:55
They'd try to trade IKF or perhaps even release Donaldson first, before getting around to trading Torres.

Hey Mark what do u think of a closer by committee? Who should be the first option, Lopez or Duran?
Mark P
9:58
I think Duran will get the closer's job sooner or later, though Minnesota might be another team takes a somewhat more situational approach.  Once the rubber hits the road, however, Duran will be their top choice

Any chance Brewers sign any of they’re core players to an extent ion
Mark P
10:00
I'm sure the Brewers' explorations into locking players up won't end with Matt Arnold now in charge of the front office.

Looking at the roster, Contreras and Mitchell stand out as extension candidates.   By this time next year, they could well be looking at a pre-career extension for Jackson Chourio, if Chourio keeps living up to the hype

Do you believe in the new-look Kelenic?
Mark P
10:03
He's been on fire this spring, and seems to have really made an effort to patch up the holes in his swing.

Kelenic has the equivalent of roughly one MLB season under his belt, he's only 23, and scouts were incredibly high on him as a prospect.  Nobody would be surprised if he broke out in 2023, and he'd join the very long list of quality players who weren't immediate stars.
10:04
That list is far, far longer than the list of prospects who were good in the majors from day one, btw

It doesn't look like Nolan Arenado's injury is too terribly serious, but Dero was ribght to be cautious.  It's the right thing for the Cardinals and the right thing for Team USA, which will need him Tuesday night in the title game (assuming this lead holds.)
Mark P
10:05
I find it hard to believe that the Cardinals wouldn't pull Arenado out of the WBC for precautionary reasons, even if there's nothing too wrong with his hand.

What is the likeliest scenario for Yoshida entering his first year in Boston? Do you think he will show power or will he just be an all contact/OBP guy?
Mark P
10:06
Yoshida's skillset makes me think he's going to be a pretty solid player.  "The Red Sox overpaid for him" and "Yoshida is still going to be pretty good" can both be true, to some extent.
Buckner
10:07
If I catch that ground ball and we win the World Series in 1986, do I make the HOF ? I was a fine hitter you know.
Mark P
10:08
Probably not the HOF since Buckner was more a good player than a great one over his career.  But it is too bad that the error is what people think of when they remember Buckner, rather than his very solid 20 years in the big leagues
Carl
10:08
I thought Joey Meneses was a free agent next year, but the Nats control him for six more years. Given his age, how is that fair? And should he demand a trade?
Mark P
10:08
The service clock begins when a player arrives in the majors, his age is irrelevant
A Penny for your thoughts
10:09
Astros and Cardinals work a deal involving Nolan Gorman and Hunter Brown?
Mark P
10:10
Wouldn't this be a fun deal.  Not an ideal fit for Houston, however, since Altuve isn't going to miss the entire year, and Gorman then becomes a somewhat overqualified bench piece.
Anthony Volpe
10:11
It isn't likely I'm going north with the Yankees, is it?
Mark P
10:12
Not unless there's an injury, or if Kiner-Falefa or Donaldson are moved.  My guess is Peraza will be the guy at shortstop
Mack
10:12
Make the WBC a every other event with one being during  ST and the next after the WS?
Mark P
10:13
Placing it after the World Series wouldn't work, since that creates the awkwardness of players having their season end, then having to ramp things up after a few weeks off
Expansion/Relocation
10:14
Are the A’s ever going to figure out the stadium issues with Oakland? Where do you think they end up?
Mark P
10:14
I've gone back and forth on this several times, but with the current lack of progress towards an Oakland ballpark, it seems like the A's will ultimately be leaving.
Oz
10:15
After seeing Michael Harris and Spencer Strider finish 1-2 in the NL Rookie-of-the-Year voting last year, are Braves fans being delusional in thinking that Braden Shewmake, Jared Shuster, and Dylan Dylancan make major contributions in their rookie seasons this year?
Mark P
10:16
"Delusional" is a stretch, since sure, any of that trio could have good rookie seasons.  But also, it's a rare feat to have players like Harris and Strider become so immediately good so quickly, so Atlanta fans shouldn't expect the world from other rookies
