Go ahead and throw some topics out there. I'll allow some time for everyone to filter in.
2:04
In the meantime, let that Odrisamer Despaigne news sink in ... he's taking his talents to South Beach. This is big news for September, get excited.

Are the twins gonna get a good general manager?
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
Well, sure. It's a funny thing -- there are a ton of qualified candidates, and lots who'll surely do at least a passable job. So how do we pick between, say, a Cherington and an Anthopoulos? Or a Levine and a McLeod? Etc. Hard to assess from the outside, really, and it's worth remembering that these guys serve broader interests than we always appreciate. (Money, ownership desires, etc.)
2:07
Even if some aren't interested in the gig, I'm sure they'll have a chance to add someone who Twins fans can get excited for.

Why am I a yankee?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
Why not? Throw everything at the wall and see if you can sneak into the playoffs. I mean, it's an incredible opportunity. They cashed in assets and could still make it.
True or False?
2:08
You would consider naming your next child "Odrisamer."
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Would be weird considering my first son already bears that name.

Markakis has been hitting great recently and has even had a little power surge (11 HR in last 78 games). Will he actually return a decent prospect now?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
The overall results are pretty average with the bat. He is sturdy and useful and kinda expensive. This is the back side of the contract, so obviously he's older. I still wouldn't expect much in return -- but hey, that's generally the nature of free agent signings.
Padres' medical data scandal
2:09
How bad do you think it could be?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Unless I've missed something, doesn't seem to be that bad.
2:10
Indications I've seen are that it's more of a global issue -- how much/what needs to be disclosed?
Adam jones
2:10
I doubt you will answer this but... Any opinons on my recent comments.
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I would be glad to answer such a question, but I have not yet read them in full, so I'll wait til I do. But I respect Jones and from what I have seen I'd say he has a thoughtful perspective.

Should I buy into the hype with Roman Quinn so far, and what should I make of my outfield situation moving forward? Who goes in center, and is an outfield of Quinn/Odubel Herrera/Nick Williams good enough to thrive? What happens when Dylan Cozens is ready to come up?
Jeffrey Todd
2:12
I'll assume you're referring more to his strong MiLB season than his four games in the bigs, but the thing is there's no need to buy in or not. He's under control for the foreseeable future. I don't think he has a long enough track record that the team is going to forego another opportunity just to ensure he isn't blocked, but he certainly factors into the calculus when they are figuring how much outfield talent they have and what the odds are that enough of it will stick.

What are the odds Joakim Soria is a Royal next year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
As good as just about any other non-star player in baseball is to stay with a team they are under contract with. His contract is under water and they obviously liked him enough to sign him.

We are screwed in the postseason without Stras, right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Nope. Would hurt a lot, but they have pitching talent. It's baseball -- not like they lost their QB.

How much will Jose de la Rosa sign for in the Offseason? Will the rox re-up him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
One year, $5MM-ish. Think he moves on.

How do the Rockies resolve their outfield logjam?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
I don't see how they don't trade a lefty outfield bat. But I'm done guessing at which. They should use first base to pick up a cheap bounceback hitter type that wants to play in Colorado to boost their stock.

What do you think of Jerry Crasnick's espn article claiming Mike Trout is too boring and that that is his MVP problem?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
He plays with a smile and plays hard, and makes some pretty spectacular plays. I guess I see why non-baseball people don't find him exciting, but what's not to like if you are any kind of baseball fan?
2:18
He should have more MVPs, since he is clearly the best player in baseball.
Elvis
2:18
Who's your AL MVP?
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
Oh. Well ....
Look, I know he won't win this year, and it's arguable in any given season, but he's the best player.

Trumbo at 1B for the Rockies next year? That pop in Coors...
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
See, I don't think they need to go break their budget to get a slugger. Maybe acquiring Trumbo last winter would've made sense, but I'd rather see them reach for a high-dollar FA in another area. (Catcher, perhaps.)
David Stearns
2:20
What am I going to do with the plethora of top outfield prospects that I have now?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
They aren't ready to cash prospects in. Obviously if an opportunity arises and they can get better value as against their internal assessment, then go ahead and punt one. But otherwise, it's just a matter of letting the talent develop and see who pans out.

2:21
Do you think the Braves are more or less likely in the offseason than before this past deadline to trade Teheran? Would it be based off how their Winter goes?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
With Coppy saying they want to acquire two quality starters, I don't see how they can trade Teheran unless the return includes a major league ready rotation piece or two. Then again, now's a great, great time to deal Teheran. So ... we'll see?
@danconnolly2016
Pearce said he had a PRP injection in the forearm/elbow area and has to rest for 10 days. Season could be over.
Tough news for the O's.
