Howdy! If you can wipe your Vin Scully-related tears away, let's talk some hardball.
Go ahead and throw some questions at me and we'll get rolling shortly.
A baseball fan

How about that twins crowd today?
Jeffrey Todd
2:05
Man, I saw the photo. Looked like the no-fan game at Camden but with the bullpen pitchers sitting in the stands. Amazing.
Bret
2:05
What kind of contract is Jose Bautista looking at?
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
I keep coming back to the 3/60 range in my mind, though a big or poor couple of weeks could potentially shift that. His approach is still sound, but the power hasn't been there and he is old. Still, that's a reasonable risk for a guy with his track record.
Connor
2:06
Do you think the Royals pick up Alcides option?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
Yeah, I think that's all but a foregone conclusion. It's just not that much cash and he is pretty ingrained in the organization. Going onto the market would mean spending more and not necessarily getting more certainty.
Sam

Who's in the best position to get the Twins POB operations job? What about GM? If there's a shakeup in the front office will the Twins stop being penny-pinchers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
I don't really have a sense yet to handicap it. Seems, though, that they'll be adding a first-time guy in the PBOp role. Doesn't really matter these days what the title is.

What did you think of Ender's catch?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
+1 WAR, amazing
Harry

If the jays dont make the playoffs, will shapiro and co shop donaldson?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Don't see that decision tied to this year's fate, really. I guess it would be harder to blow things up if they do make it, but I don't see why they would anyway.
Dipoto
2:08
Do you see me making a big FA signing this offseason? If so, who?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Well it's not really a Dipoto move, but the team seems to have space to add a slugging first baseman.
Other areas too, of course, and I'd bet they add at least one significant (four year +) free agent.

Do the Orioles offer Alvarez a QO this offseason? With chances of retaining Trumbo small, we would need a DH so if he accepts I'd be okay, and if he signs elsewhere, I'd be okay too.
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
Nah, I think he's too limited for that price tag. It's not that far off, though, and I guess you could stretch and do it if you really wanted him on a one-year committed (plus you were interested in possibly snagging a draft pick).
Jon Daniels

Should I decline on Derek Holland's club option to free up payroll to resign Desmond, or do I pick up Holland's option and take advantage of the weak FA pitching class to trade for a starting CF?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I don't think they are tied. If they don't bring back Holland for $10MM or whatever it is exactly, they will need to go find more pitching depth.
Ron Santo
2:11
Are the Cubs glad they traded Castro?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
Probably. Don't have much use for him so no reason to be paying that contract.
Matt Kemp
2:12
why no Love ?back to back 30HR & 100rbi seasons.
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
Love in what regard? I mean, the OBP has finally cracked .300 for the year. But it weighs him down. If he can stay committed and healthy, he could easily justify the team's commitment to him. But that remains to be seen. Certainly ATL's risk was a better one than the Pads took when they traded for him.
Jack
2:13
If the dbacks struggle next year will they sell off their assets?
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
In all likelihood they'd be hiring a new front office to oversee some major changes ... if they don't go that route this winter.
Joseph from Mobile
2:13
If you're John Coppolella, what do you do about the Braves OF? Trade Kemp? Trade Markakis? Trade Mallex Smith?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
Don't have to trade anyone. But Ender is the most marketable Braves OF.
Bob
2:14
Mitch Moreland seems like an underrated player. Was surprised to see he was arguably the best defense 1B. What will he get this winter?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
Off the top of my head - really haven't thought about it - maybe 2/12?
Below average offense for a 1B doesn't command much.
Corey
2:15
Will the Cubs pick up Jason Hammel's option and trade him, pick it up and keep him, or let him walk
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Not sure about the trade aspect, but it's only an $8MM decision ($10 option $2 buyout) and he's pitched quite well. Plenty of value in a one-year commitment to him at that price, so I think it has to get picked up.

What's your prediction on jays resigning EE. Also, if jay decide to let go of EE, who would they replace?...
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Don't have a prediction on a replacement, but I don't think they will re-sign him. There'll be bigger interest elsewhere.
M.J.

Hey Jeff. I enjoy the chats. Keep up the good work. Which player who's been called up from the 2015 MLB Draft class will have the better career when it's all said and done and why? (1) Dansby Swanson (2) Alex Bregman (3) Andrew Benintendi (4) Carson Fulmer.
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Thank you! Bregman has my money right now.

Hey Jeff do you collect baseball cards? Any notable cards you covet?
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
I used to! In the day I bought packs and such. When I got older I would buy beat up old classics on eBay (T206, Goudey, 1950s Topps/Bowman). Always like the aesthetics of it more than just the cards themselves.
